Job Summary:

The MasterCraft Project Superintendent is responsible for managing supervisors, planning, and directing work activities for specific scopes of work across the Project. Supervises and directs craft professionals, subordinate supervisors, and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction performance is following specifications and within schedules and budgets. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule if required, including, but not limited to nightshift, split shift, or day shift work.. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).  #LI-TH1 

Major Responsibilities:

Leadership/Supervision

  • Supervises and/or directs craft activities with discipline Superintendents as assigned.
  • Schedules work to be performed, and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
  • Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.
  • Oversees, coordinates and reports field activities of construction.
  • Proactively engages with their team's development through CPM, Competency development/assessment and feedback

Planning/Productivity

  • Determines workforce requirements.
  • Coordinates established area operational plans.
  • Coordinates activities with other disciplines or areas and clients’ resident representatives, as instructed by construction management.
  • Assists with the development of planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Oversees the development of projections and schedules for workforce, material and equipment requirements
  • Reviews and assigns installation work packages to foreman and general foreman
  • Oversees the reporting of installed quantities to Field Engineering for verification and quantity claiming
  • Reviews project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule.
  • Oversees the preparation of reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
  • Prepares construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Oversees the coordination of construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.

Tools, Materials & Equipment

  • Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.
  • Oversees the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensure that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.

Safety/Quality

  • Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
  • Ensures assigned construction operations performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
  • Ensures the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
  • Monitors the activities to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
  • Monitors work activities and ensure the quality of work performed.

Technical

  • Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting
  • Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents
  • Oversees engineering solutions with Superintendents, General Foremen, Foremen and Craft Professionals.
  • Oversees the preparation of testing processes and required test equipment
  • Inspects installed components for technical acceptance.
  • Oversees the development of Commodity Installation means and methods
  • Utilizes and leverages applicable automation software and processes as applicable

Scope of Leadership

  • Supervises the work of Support-level or junior Professional personnel
  • Assists with management decisions and activities
  • Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with supervisors
  • Coordinates with management for hiring, firing, reductions in force, performance appraisals, and pay reviews

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience​

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with open shop projects and the type of work to be undertaken. 
  • Knowledge of supervisory functions relating directing large scopes of work activities
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to develop 3 week look ahead schedule
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams.
