SUMMARY:
The M&BD Associate (BDA) is responsible for providing assistance to business development managers in developing prospect win strategies, preparation of proposals and presentations to customers, and coordinating with the proposal group to ensure timely submittal of quality deliverables.  The BDA is also responsible for maintaining various reports and tracking systems to capture key information about the businesses pursuits.  The BDA supports the businesses marketing needs through the coordination of conferences and development of marketing materials.

Reports to and receives operational and functional supervision from responsible Business Development Operations Manager.

C. Contacts

Routine contact with project and business development personnel, subsidiary companies and other Bechtel entities to gather data in support of proposal preparation. Periodic contacts with customers or industry representatives. Occasional contacts with teaming partners.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the preparation and monitoring of proposal efforts including:
    • Drafting of Scorecards, Win Plans, Bid-No Bids & Budget request forms
    • Coordination with proposals group
    • Writing of the technical write-ups
    • Monitoring of proposal schedule and ensuring timely completion of deliverables to support proposal deadlines
  • Assists in the development of proposal material
  • Assists with initial drafting of policy letters and coordinated input of same * Maintains records of prospects, client and competitor information in CRM system.
  • Coordinates with and supports BD managers to ensure prospects are up-to-date and relevant.
  • Manages client and competitor account information.
  • Produces reports from CRM as needed.
  • Participates in proposal, estimate, and project reviews of the commercial/business matters in policy letters and related policy approval requests prior to submission to GBU and/or Corporate management.
  • Develops customer presentations and participates in customer meetings.
  • Assists with conference coordination and development of marketing material.
  • Assists with overall strategy development/refinement and market research. 

Basic Qualifications (G25):

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Graduate degree in business or finance preferred
  • Sales experience preferred
  • 5-8 years capital project development or execution experience including onshore transportation pipeline project experience with a midstream company, IOC, professional services firm, or EPC company, ideally across multiple disciplines
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills proven in client-facing roles
  • High standard of work ethics, self-starter, problem solving skills with an aptitude for sales
  • Able to give examples of understanding of an EPC’s target clients, business models, and their needs
  • Skill in computer software applications including Microsoft Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI (or Tableau), CRM systems such as Dynamics or Salesforce
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, plan and direct resources to meet critical bidding dates
