Project Overview:
Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), Bechtel’s government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. Its successes include many large, first-of-a-kind projects in government site management, environmental restoration, defense, space, energy, and national and homeland security. Bechtel is on the Northrop Grumman Corp. team preparing to deliver the U.S. Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) system of inter-continental ballistic missiles and launch infrastructure. GBSD is a vital U.S. Air Force program designed to modernize the nation’s aging force of inter-continental ballistic missiles, which make up the ground element of the nuclear deterrent. As part of the Northrop Grumman GBSD nationwide team, Bechtel will provide launch system design, construction, and integration. A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Job Summary:
Bechtel Global Logistics (BGL) is seeking a Logistics Specialist that will be based in Houston, TX and supporting the Sentinel project. Position will be responsible for performing Logistics responsibilities of moderate complexity in support of project requirements to ensure the safe, timely, and economical delivery of goods to meet project requirements. Responsible to support feasibility studies for the transport of
inbound standard and heavy haul movement of project procured materials from various domestic hubs and laydown origin points to construction sites.
"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.” #LI-SF1
Major Responsibilities:
- Assists with preparation of desktop and field road and bridge feasibility assessment
- Assists with developing road and bridge assessment feasibility report
- Performs field assessment of road conditions and inputs data in GIS mapping system.
- Assists with field assessment of route structures and input data in GIS mapping system.
- Analyzes access routes for proposed heavy haul transport configurations.
- Assists with developing road and bridge assessment feasibility report
- Performs domestic and international multi-leg shipment responsibilities in support of project requirements to ensure the safe, timely, and economical delivery of goods to meet project requirements.
- Ensures timely entry of shipment tracking data into TMS (Transportation Management System) to provide visibility shipment status.
- Assists in preparation of Logistics reports or performance metrics as required to satisfy project information requirements.
- Ensures timely audit and processing of Logistics service provider invoices in accordance with project procedures.
- Assists in identifying transport cost and service alternatives to support materials/equipment purchase decisions and use of Logistics service providers.
- Assists the project Logistics lead as requested.
- Assists with filing and resolution of Logistics service provider claims.
- Assists with preparation of Logistics service provider bid tabs, commitment authorizations and contract documents within the scope of Bechtel policies and procedures.
- Support logistics functional initiatives as required.
- Integrates safety requirements and measures in all Logistics activities.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree / associate degree or related technical training preferred.
- Typically requires a minimum of 4 to 6 years of related experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Security clearance is preferred but not required.
- Experience with Air Force operations/Department of Defense (DOD) logistics support is preferred but not required.
- College degree completed or in process is acceptable.
- Will require some flexibility with travel and business trips in the field – route surveys.
- Understanding of U.S Import and Export requirements
- Understanding of Incoterms 2020 and practical application
- Learns to use professional concepts.
- Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.
Job Complexity:
- Works on moderate to difficult assignments requiring judgment and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.
- Flexibility to travel on business and route feasibility trips.
Supervision:
- Minimal supervision with some latitude for independent judgment. Completes difficult assignments without assistance. May mentor less-experienced team members and assist supervisors.
