Job Summary:
In this role, you will conduct technical analyses and modeling studies in H&H subject areas to support engineering design and construction including risk assessments and value engineering. Work will include preparation and checking of design calculations and study reports, specification of input data requirements, participation in data collection and verification efforts. You will participate in interdisciplinary work group meetings, coordinate work plan and execution with other technical specialists and be responsible for the quality and on time delivery of the work products. Successful completion of task assignments will require excellent teamwork and close coordination with G&HES staff and with project teams. Academic background and numerical modeling skills in pipeline hydraulics, surface water hydrology and hydraulics are required.
Ability to work independently and exercise engineering judgment in problem definition, and evaluation and adaptation of engineering principles and techniques is required.

Work may require short-term travel to project sites in the U.S. and overseas
Major Responsibilities:
- Originate and check H&H deliverables including engineering calculations and study reports
- Specify, collect, review, and interpret data required to support design and numerical model development
- Review and interpret regulations and permitting requirements relevant to hydraulic design of piping systems, and hydrologic assessment in support of site development
- Adhere to schedule and budget for assigned activities
- Adhere to project execution plan, and quality assurance requirements and engineering procedures and instructions.
- Incorporate relevant best practices and lessons learned in H&H specific design and in general engineering execution.
- Receive technical and administrative direction from H&H supervisor
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires an M.S. degree in Civil Engineering with graduate level coursework and research on hydraulics and hydrology and minimum of 3 years of industrial experience i the H&H field, or a Ph.D. degree in hydraulics and hydrologic engineering
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience with pipeline system modeling software for water hammer analysis such as HAMMER, WANDA, PipeNet, AFT, SPS, or equivalent
- Experience with surface water hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, or equivalent
- Knowledge of design of hydraulic structures
- Knowledge of coastal engineering and hydrodynamic modeling
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards
- Previous experience working on engineering design for large industrial projects
- Experience with word processing, spreadsheet, computer graphics, and other appropriate computer applications to facilitate the compilation and analysis of data collection activities
- Experience with coding in Fortran, Visual Basic, Python, MATLAB or C++ in processing and analyzing large spatial and time series datasets
- Right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
