Job Summary:

Bechtel is seeking a Project Accounting Manager for a Mining & Metals Project based in Perú. The position will be responsible for the oversight of systems and processes in order to support project accounting activities, including Craft Professional Payroll and Agency Accounts Payable activities. The position will work closely with our clients with respect to capturing costs, submitting invoices, managing accruals and capitalizing assets. This BBS Finance position will receive day to day direction from the Project Commercial Manager and functional guidance from the M&M Finance Manager. #LI-NP1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring financial and administrative controls for our Perú office in accordance with Bechtel policies and procedures, client requirements, and applicable statutory regulations.
  • Undertaking responsibility for project accounts, including general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and detailed job cost and commitment ledgers, including the AP Agency accounts for accounts payable activities as agent for the client.
  • Overseeing processes and procedures for direct-hire payroll, working closely with the Construction, Workforce Services, and Payroll teams to process Craft payroll.
  • Coordinating and supporting Expat and National Professional Staff payroll for project-assigned employees in Peru.
  • Providing support for the local statutory reporting requirements for the Perú office books and assisting with Peruvian statutory and tax reporting requirements as they pertain to the Peruvian entities.
  • Ensuring monthly billings are performed in accordance with contract terms for the project.
  • Managing accounts receivable and payables to ensure prompt payments are made and received.
  • Monitoring the status of employee receivables as they pertain to the project and working with project management to ensure all accounts are current.
  • Providing analysis of financial information, cost estimates, and preparing forecasts and ad-hoc management reporting as required by Project and GBU Management.
  • Supporting the office team with expense report processing, myTime timesheets, and payroll queries.
  • Responding to client inquiries and audits related to finance matters, and working with client representatives to interpret contract provisions as they relate to accounting.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A recognized degree in accounting or finance
  •  8-10 years of project accounting experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • In depth knowledge of Bechtel accounting procedures and systems.
    • Understanding of complexities associated with international projects as well as statutory requirements of Perú.
    • Good Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively function in a matrix organization and manage complex high-volume activities.
  • Ability to function effectively within a multi-cultural team environment.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, provide early recognition of potential problems and provide effective and innovative thought processes in handling complex financial issues/problems.
