Job Summary:

The position requires a confident individual, capable of operating autonomously in a role critical to project success. They should take the initiative to coordinate the detailed development of permitting & regulatory deliverables with other engineering disciplines while managing workload and meeting schedule due dates.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the environmental engineering work for a global business unit, a project or staff group​ 
  • Develops environmental systems, applications, and procedures​ 
  • Coordinates environmental engineering efforts with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups​ 
  • Conducts environmental engineering studies and prepares environmental impact reports for new construction projects, plant processes, and permits​ 
  • Provides technical assistance to other Environmental Engineering personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards​ 
  • Ensures compliance with government regulations and keeps abreast of new environmental engineering policies and technologies​ 
  • When delegated, provides guidance to other environmental engineering personnel for specific tasks or projects​ 
  • Reviews and checks work of others as assigned 
  • Ensures that projects are in compliance with state and federal environmental permits and regulations and in particular with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requirements
  • Supports engineering and project management in understanding and applying regulatory requirements, based on permits and legislation
  • Develops execution strategies and planning for project permitting
  • Ensures that regulatory approvals are in place to support project execution

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in chemical, environmental or mechanical engineering and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with US environmental legislation and industry codes & standards affecting standard design, quality, or processes
  • Experience with regulatory requirements and approval processes with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), USACE, PHMSA, USEPA and state (particularly Texas and Louisiana) environmental agencies is advantageous
  • Relevant industry experience in any of the following: Gas Processing, LNG, Refining, Petrochemical or Energy Transition (hydrogen production, CCS, methanol synthesis, SAF, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of technical theory, engineering principles, good engineering practices and how to apply them to design execution
  • Working understanding of major project delivery, including the design process and typical project design deliverables
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, both written and spoken
