Project Overview:
Bechtel has been selected by Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) and Century Aluminum to perform preparatory engineering and early execution planning for a new primary aluminum smelter in Inola, Oklahoma — an investment expected to create thousands of jobs and support long-term economic growth in northeast Oklahoma.
When complete, the facility will be the first new primary aluminum smelter built in the U.S. since 1980 and is expected to double the current U.S. primary aluminum production, strengthening America’s industrial base and supply chain resilience.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will supervise a team of electrical personnel, estimate project staffing needs, and schedule and assign work. You will prepare discipline estimates and work plans and review and approve electrical investigations and studies. Your leadership will drive high quality work plans, successful implementation of electrical components, team support and training, and project performance.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership” . #LI-NP1
Major Responsibilities:
- Plans, develops, directs, and participates in the day-to-day electrical engineering activity on medium to large sized complex projects that require very major electrical engineering effort, or may be assigned responsibility for multiple smaller projects within a global business unit utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
- Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of electrical engineering personnel assigned, estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work accordingly
- Provides the technical input to meet procurement requirements
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly
- Maintains contact with other disciplines to ensure the coordination of the work within the project(s) and compliance with Bechtel/client requirements
- Reviews and makes recommendations of the electrical aspects of bid evaluations and awards for approval by project engineering
- When directed, coordinates with client representatives to obtain their approval of electrical aspects of the work
- Reviews and approves key calculations, licensing evaluations, design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned
- Ensures that assigned electrical personnel receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in studies, FEED & detailed engineering preferably in an EPC/EPCM industry for large industrial plants, power projects, utilities.
- Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computer applications within the Electrical engineering discipline.
- Experience in design, procurement, construction, commissioning or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities or process plants.
- Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods and of precedents in the Electrical discipline and principles and practices of inter-related disciplines.
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the associated costs.
- Strong knowlege of local US suppliers and supply chains
- Strong experience with US utilities and network connection requirements for large industrial plants

Experience in adapting IEC designs for compliance with U.S. standards and regulations will be highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience in managing international design teams will be highly regarded
