Project Overview:

Bechtel is partnering with NextDecade to support their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas. RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984-acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and one marine berth. At full capacity, the five-train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). 

 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will perform routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities and support the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, preparation of cost data, and the project trend program. You will assist with budget allocation and developing quantity takeoffs, project codes, and application unit rates. Your work will help ensure projects stay on budget and excel.  #LI-CS1

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities, as directed 
  • Supports the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports  
  • Assists with budget allocation and reporting/cost control for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines 
  • Supports the preparation of cost data for proposals or contracts 
  • Assists in the development of quantity takeoffs for a specific discipline or specialty 
  • Assists in developing specific project codes of accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions 
  • Supports the project trend program 
  • Assists in the development and application of unit rates (cost and job hours) to quantity takeoffs 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, financial reporting systems, and cost analysis at a jobsite location.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Proficiency in using PC operating systems, including several basic software applications.
  • Proficiency in using multiple discipline-specific software applications currently used by Bechtel (Ecosys, Hyperion, Digital Supply Chain, for example).
  • Knowledge of financial report systems and controller account codes, and understanding of Controller instructions, which impact Project Controls.
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel.
  • Knowledge of engineering and/or construction management is customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • Experience on major lump sum projects with direct hire construction strategy is required.
  • Knowledge of LNG projects and jobsite experience is preferred.
  • Proactive self-starter with a proven ability to work independently and efficiently.
