Project Overview:
Bechtel Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) is an exciting and growing business that serves the increasing demand of EPC services for customers in the semiconductor (manufacturing facilities and supply chain); electric vehicle (batteries, charging infrastructure, and production); synthetic materials; and data center markets.

Job Summary:
The Continuous Improvement Manager (CIM) will report to the M&T Manager of Quality (MOQ) and will be responsible for leading continuous improvement (CI) initiatives within the Global Business Unit (GBU). The CIM will support the development and delivery of a customized CI program, including a risk-based strategy that meets GBU goals and objectives. Responsible for using data to measure and report project performance, and ensure improvements are institutionalized. Lead teams through the CI process to solve problems and make fact-based decisions to deliver right the first-time quality. Facilitate resolution of issues, improvements, and opportunities across all Functions within the project team. The CIM will be a key partner within the Quality Function team and lead CI efforts resulting in improved GBU quality performance.
Major Responsibilities:
- Support and oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the GBU-level Continuous Improvement (CI) program to meet quality goals.
- Coordinate CI activities across all functions, including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations, and support areas.
- Manage CI pillars such as Lessons Learned, Causal Analysis, Corrective Actions, and Six Sigma/Lean processes.
- Close performance gaps by applying CI tools, leadership, and expertise to drive measurable improvements in efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- Identify and advance CI tools and techniques to enhance service delivery and resolve business performance issues.
- Analyze and report on process data, metrics, and KPIs to target and measure improvement initiatives.
- Lead and support causal analyses, root cause evaluations, and facilitate CI workshops and training sessions.
- Review and update CI procedures for compliance with corporate and GBU requirements; train and support CI personnel at all levels.
- Develop and implement new CI training tools and software, prepare reports on program effectiveness, and identify opportunities for team member development.
- Promote a collaborative culture of continuous improvement across the project team.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13 - 15 years of relevant experience or 17 - 19 years of relevant work experience
- Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (certified by Bechtel, or certified by other named Company or Institution and year)
- Completed Six Sigma DMAIC, DMADV, and Lean Process Improvement Projects (PIP) and Process Improvement Efforts (PIE) that can be provided upon request
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience with continuously improving Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Startup, Operations work processes and business areas; or advanced experience optimizing complex industrial processes, systems or organizations
- Extensive experience supervising direct reports
- Experience achieving measurable continuous improvement results through influence management, soft skills in a leadership position with ability to achieve change and results by shaping the attitudes and viewpoints of individuals and teams
- Trained in Kaizen and / or Lean methodologies
- Trained in team facilitation techniques
- Trained in Causal Analysis techniques
- Experience applying a structured approach to process analysis and problem solving
- Experience establishing, monitoring, and analyzing data and reporting results to PQM and other management.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in the use of a PC computer, Microsoft software, database administration, Visio (or equivalent) and Minitab
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education
