Project Overview:

As the main contractor under the EPC agreement with Sempra Infrastructure, Bechtel is proud to lead the construction of the Port Arthur LNG (PA LNG) project, ensuring safe and reliable access to U.S. natural gas for markets worldwide. Currently under construction, the Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 project is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal in Southeast Texas with direct access to the Gulf of Mexico. The project will include two natural gas liquefaction trains with a production capacity of approximately 13 million tonnes per year. The PA LNG Phase 2 project will add 2 additional LNG Trains, a third LNG storage tank and a second LNG loading berth.

 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will liaise between engineering and field operations and provide guidance on executing constructability plans. You will also liaise with the existing Phase 1 construction team and support planning and execution of initial Phase 2 mobilization activities. You will provide construction input on design decisions, interdisciplinary reviews, and project staffing. You will monitor construction performance and develop procedures and scopes of work and review engineering and subcontractor deliverables. You will use your expertise to improve Bechtel’s existing methods by initiating project assessments and implementing improvements. #LI-TH1

 

Major Responsibilities:

Project 

  • Attends model reviews and constructability reviews to provide Construction input and recommendations across disciplines 
  • Coordinates with all team members in generating and developing approved Constructability ideas and plans.  
  • Initiates the Constructability Program process and schedule, identifying construction related requirements to other functions in time to support their estimating efforts during project development/Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) phase.  
  • Prepares and may lead Constructability awareness training 
  • Contributes to construction related design decisions by providing Construction’s perspective to schedules, design deliverables, equipment purchases, degree of shop fabrication, and equipment delivery configuration and sequence. 
  • Develops construction procedures and scopes of work for early construction services subcontracts as needed to support mobilization to site and initial phases of construction.
  • Coordinates with existing Phase 1 construction team to develop mobilization and temporary facilities plans to meet Phase 2 requirements.
  • Will require periodic trips to the project site to interface with the onsite construction team.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be well organized, possess excellent time management skills and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Strong collaboration skills, ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Shall have knowledge of sequence of construction of major industrial projects and key construction processes and techniques.
  • Proficient in reading drawings, interpret design, specifications and industry standards and codes.
  • Basic Rigging knowledge is preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a field engineering or field supervision position in an organization supporting direct-hire work /subcontract is preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of all phases of construction and field engineering relating to the discipline interfacing with all areas.
  • Shall have an experience of preparation of construction work packages and subcontract scopes of work.
