Project Overview:
Energy’s Construction Functional group is expanding to include Construction Coordinators. Construction Coordinators will initially report to Construction Chief Engineer and Manager of Construction prior to being assigned to Projects where they will report to the Construction Manager. Project assignments may include proposals, Pre-FEED, FEED, or EPC execution assistance.
Job Summary:
The Construction Coordinator (Electrical) will be assigned to the Energy GBU’s Houston office as the Construction representative on one or more projects. In this capacity, the Construction Coordinator serves as the liaison between Construction and other members of the project team. The Construction Coordinator ensures that Construction requirements are made known to the project team and that Construction responds to the needs of other project team members. The Construction Coordinator is responsible for working with the other members of the project team to include the Owner, management, construction, project controls, engineering, procurement, contracts, estimating, and business development. Major Responsibilities:
- Leads constructability reviews on the project on an ongoing basis during the definition and design process with special emphasis on electrical installations
- Leads constructability reviews on the project on an ongoing basis during the definition and design process for temporary power requirements
- Participates in design development and suggests economical construction details to be incorporated into design drawings and specifications, utilizing "lessons learned" from other projects and construction "best practices" with special emphasis on electrical installations
- Leads the Advance Work Package process. Interprets construction work package scoping for engineering and making sure that engineering deliverables are complete for construction work packages to support the construction schedule with special emphasis on electrical installations
- Represents construction in the weekly engineering schedule review meetings and making sure that engineering meets its schedule obligations with special emphasis on electrical installations
- Provides input to the overall construction execution plan including site layout, equipment, materials, and construction organization with special emphasis on electrical installations
- Assists in subcontract formation and project team evaluations of project issued contracts and subcontracts, e.g., temporary facilities, waste management, heavy haul/heavy lift, permanent buildings, etc. with special emphasis on electrical installations
- Assists in the development of Field Professional Staffing plans for the Construction/Site Manager with special emphasis on electrical installations
- Assists in the development of a project Construction Equipment Schedule (CES) for the Construction/Site Manager with special emphasis on electrical installations
- Assists PFE in the development of project specific Construction Procedures and Instructions as required and reviews SWPPs for implementation with special emphasis on electrical installations
- Utilizes the plant design model to identify construction sequencing
- Coordinates or inputs data in TEAMWorks™ and SetRoute™
- Helps develop the layout of temporary facilities in conjunction with the Construction/Site Manager and Design Engineering with special emphasis on electrical installations
- Leads the design of the temporary power system in conjunction with the Construction/Site Manager and Design Engineering
- Coordinates development of rigging and equipment plans with the Bechtel certified rigging engineer and BEO Representative
- Maintains communications with the Construction field organization and Office project team members regarding significant problem areas and potential solutions with special emphasis on electrical installations
Education and Experience Requirements:
- B.S. in engineering or construction science or plus 5 years of related field experience in construction/technical inspection.
- Previous experience in a role such as a Discipline Field Engineer or related experience in electrical design, installations, and quality checks.
- Must have right to live and work in the United States.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of interfaces for design engineering, procurement, and construction with special emphasis on electrical installations.
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable industry codes and standards with special emphasis on electrical.
- Experience in the formation and administration of construction subcontracts with special emphasis on electrical.
- Knowledge and understanding of automation tools and applications.
- Commitment to Bechtel’s Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Core Processes, and Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” philosophy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference for construction experience assigned as a Construction Coordinator and construction site experience in field engineering.
- Knowledge and understanding of Bechtel's Standard Work Process Procedures.
- Experience in the formation and administration of construction subcontracts with special emphasis on electrical installations.
- Knowledge and understanding of Bechtel automation tools.
- Commitment to Bechtel’s Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Core Processes, and Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” philosophy.
