Job Summary:
In this position, you will play a key role on the LNG Business Development team. You will build and maintain personal relationships with key contacts, customer organizations, strategic vendors, and partners with a focus on project solutions for existing LNG operating facilities. You will develop bid and proposal strategies to engage early in project development and demonstrate how Bechtel can help customers achieve their objectives. Your work will expand market reach and drive growth and success for Bechtel.
Major Responsibilities:
- Manages departmental efforts and activities in improving relationships with customers and building relations with prospective customers
- Actively seeks understanding of customers' present and future plans for growth, projects, and programmatic and technical requirements
- Identifies key customer needs, and presents tailored value propositions based on strong understanding of Bechtel project delivery capabilities
- Supervises the development and implementation of win plans
- Directs and actively participates in planning the business development/ capture strategy for specific prospects
- Keeps aware of the business development activity and strategy of competitors, including their pricing trends and approaches
- Follows up on jobs won and lost to determine the reasons why Bechtel was or was not selected
- Supervises the preparation and coordination of proposals
- Directs commercial strategies and leads proposal and pricing reviews with functional and senior managers
- Develops strategy and leads proposal presentations and fee negotiations with customers
- Directs the preparation of pursuit governance process and seeks internal approvals for new contracts and commitments
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Prefer previous working experience on Oil, Chemicals or Gas/LNG design and construction projects
- Preferably has more than 15 years of experience
- Knowledge of and experience of project execution and company business objectives
- Ability to present company capabilities and services to customers
- Experience interacting and working with customers in previous roles, preferably leveraging an existing network in the LNG sector
- Skilled in oral and written communication with demonstrated ability in making presentations to customers and management
- Experience in preparation of win plans, shaping, targeting, pursuit and capture of strategic prospects preferred
- Ability to understand, articulate and sell Bechtel’s value proposition, execution approach and commercial positions to customers through knowledge and authenticity
- Demonstrated initiative and intensity in pursuit of new work; serves as the internal advocate for a prospect
- Self-directed, requires limited daily supervision or guidance
- Ability to influence internally without direct authority with strong ethics/ integrity-based behavior
- Works well with teams and other departments
- Responsive to internal and external customers with consistent follow-up and follow-through
- Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions and “connecting dots” through disparate information
- Champions deals both internally and externally with sufficient commercial and contractual/legal knowledge to explore options and solutions with both. Is articulate and concise in describing the deal and associated risk and benefits.
