Project Overview:
This entry-level position will allow the selected candidate to perform assignments that will develop professional working knowledge and abilities through the application of applicable codes and standards, as well as engineering/scientific principles for protective coatings, linings, and non-metallic construction materials, especially as it relates to corrosion mitigation. Non-metallic materials include paint, polymer linings, and to some degree insulation. You will exercise limited, but increasing, judgment in performing your assigned duties using methods prescribed by your supervisor.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will participate in the design and development of methods for the manufacture, molding, and utilization of construction materials. You will analyze materials, review data, conduct testing, evaluate results, and complete documentation. Your assistance with materials and fabrication issues will contribute to technical advancements and enhance product performance and sustainability.
Major Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of materials and application of industrial coatings.
- The application of Engineering Department Procedures, relevant Bechtel design guides and specifications.
- Application of engineering to plant constructability, as pertinent to construction methods and materials.
- Understands engineering planning and control methods, including computerized methods.
- Understand the roles played by other project disciplines, including basic construction practices and economics.
- Understand industry or regulatory codes/standards and design criteria pertinent to the coatings.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Engineering or Polymer Science from an accredited college or university within the past twelve (12) months or upcoming twelve (12) months.
- Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites.
- Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Science degree in Materials Engineering or Polymer Science from an accredited college or university within the past twelve (12) months or upcoming twelve (12) months.
- Prior co-op or internship experience.
- Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
