Job Summary:
Reports directly to the General Ledger Supervisor and interfaces with counterparts in other service locations, project offices, and controller management. Primary accountability involves managing general ledger balances for assigned balancing segments and ensures the timely preparation of monthly helping schedules and reviews them for compliance with established procedures.
Major Responsibilities:
- Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting including ledger scrutiny. Actively contacts with other departments and follows up on corrective actions.
- Preparation of various report in general ledger on requirement basis.
- Perform the monthly GL close activity.
- Help the Audit and tax team.
- Prepares and submits required financial reporting adjustments to supervisor and Operations Reporting, as necessary.
- Review all general ledger balances for assigned balancing segments and ensures that month wise, helping schedules are prepared in a timely manner and are reviewed for compliance with established procedures.
- Perform special studies or analyses from time to time as needed and requested by supervisors and managers.
- Perform quarterly and yearly analysis on specific balance sheet accounts for reporting to the head office.
- Review of accounts reconciliation on regular basis.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or a related field and at 3-4 years of accounting experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- CA (Inter) will be an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of financial reporting, Oracle financials, accounts payable and project financial process controls.
- Basic skills in the areas of oral and written communications, MS Office suite of applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Good inquisitive skills.
- Ability to transmit effectively both orally and in writing.
- Understanding of generally adapted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable accounting methods.
- Must be dependable, on time, conscientious, and function well in a team environment.
- The ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptable, have the ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude, and maintain composure under stress.
- The ideal candidate must be self-starter, capable of working independently, taking initiative, identifying and resolving issues, managing workload, and handling correspondence.
- The ideal candidate must possess good organization skills, ability to provide constant attention to detail, and have ability to apply quality control over a heavy volume work with tight deadlines.
- Candidate is expected to maintain confidentiality of all information entitled to the position.
