Reporting and Working Relationships:
- Reports to the Mechanical Engineering Group Supervisor (EGS).
- Works in close coordination with other Mechanical Senior Engineers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in other offices, nominated for project execution activities.
- Provides oversight and advise to the Designers on aspects related to Process Flow Diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, especially interface and tie-in points.
- Have working relationship and coordination with all other disciplines and all other entities within the Project execution team to ensure cross-functional alignment.
Essential Duties (Scope):
This role will help in the development, review, and finalization of critical project deliverables like Design calculations like flow and pressure-drop calculations for system distribution and collection mains using software applications like Pipe-flo, Flow diagrams for piping systems, Data sheets, Project specifications, Material and Service Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations, System Descriptions, Contract Package Scope Dictionaries, Line Lists, Valve Lists, and any other Study / Report / Diagram required during project execution activities, as an example, system zoning and mapping diagrams, including, but not limited to, lateral service areas for corresponding tools or bays, for Mechanical Engineering discipline. The person shall engage with a cross-discipline and cross-functional team of Senior Engineers, Engineers and Designers / 3D-Modelers, SMEs including Project Engineers, Owner representatives, Construction representatives and other stakeholders in other functions like Quality, ES&H, Procurement and Project Controls.
Key objectives:
- Complete, on behalf of the Mechanical EGS, the deliverables (as explained above) for selected and prioritized Mechanical equipment and packages.
- Work with the Mechanical EGS to assist in providing technical inputs and Mechanical engineering requirements for other commodity design and engineering activities, e.g. structural steel, concrete, piping, electrical equipment and instrumentation.
- Work with the Designers to assist in assuring conformance to Owner requirements in the design and development of P&IDs and PFDs.
- Work with Vendors / Sub-contractors to review their data and information for completeness and correctness.
- Participate in training sessions related to use of new tools and applications.
Experience:
11 to 14 years experience in the EPC industry (Oil, Gas and Chemicals, or Mining and metals Business units, or in Power plants).
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering from accredited college/institution
- Familiarity of common engineering, procurement and construction work processes, supply chain and other constructions methods and materials including usage of engineering applications to produce deliverables.
- Knowledgeable about design and engineering practices, equipment data definition, procurement, construction, handover processes and related activities pertaining to Mechanical equipment and packages. This includes, but is not limited to, direct/indirect exposure and experience with one or more of the following types of mechanical equipment and packages:
- Tanks, Vessels, Heat exchangers
- Pumps
- Thickeners
- Classifiers and Rake mechanisms
- Water treatment packages
- Biological wastewater treatment systems
- Aerobic wastewater treatment systems
- Wastewater treatment Systems/packages involving Acid waste collection, neutralization, Caustic system, Sulfuric system, Concentrated copper waste, Corrosive solvent waste, Acid waste, General Solvent Waste, Hydrofluoric Waste, Ammonia wastewater, Organic Waste Segregation, Solvent Acid Waste, Slurry copper waste, Spin on Glass Solvent Waste, Sulfuric Segregation, Trimix waste
- Bulk Chemical Delivery, Chemical Injection and Treatment systems (Aqueous/Corrosive Solvent, Corrosive Solvent, Blender systems...etc)
- Sewage treatment plants
- Lift Stations
- Cooling towers
- Demineralized Water Treatment Package
- Chilled water package
- Raw water treatment packages
- Boiler feed water treatment package
- Condensate and feedwater system
- Good understanding of the information lifecycle of project data – how information is exchanged between functions/disciplines and ownership of data transitions throughout the life of a project including an understanding of Who the owner of trusted data is at any point in a project.
- Business understanding for data usage and consumption patterns.
- Good understanding of the link between work processes and tools/applications.
- Naturally curious and strong desire to solve problems. Innovative mind and willingness to learn and master new concepts, systems, processes, and tools.
- Intuitive ability to analyze and integrate data to solve analytical problems.
- Clear communication of complex methods in layman’s terms.
- Ability to think out of the box with questioning attitude.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively and precisely with other team members in other offices, including other discipline engineers and SMEs.
Preferred Requirements:
- Good communication skills.
- Construction experience (site) will be a plus.
- Having worked in more than one Function/Business unit will be a plus.
- Experience and understanding of Contracts and Procurement practices and methods.
- Design thinking and Innovative thought-process.
- Experience with equipment sizing tools and applications.
