ROLE OVERVIEW

The Mechanical Engineering team is increasing capabilities to support projects in the Infrastructure, mainly for Power, business unit of Bechtel Global. There is a vacancy in the Gurgaon office for professional with Power Plants Engineering experience as Mechanical Systems Engineer, qualified to degree level. A minimum of Fifteen years’ industrial experience is required for this position.  Candidate should have held a mid-level position (Responsible Engineer) in the Engineering team for execution of Basic/Conceptual Engineering, FEED, EPCM, EPC modes of execution for Indian / International projects.

 

The Mechanical System Engineer will report to the GL/APE/PEM and duties will include the following:

  • Plan and conduct independent work carried out with sound engineering practices and of desired quality within schedule and cost.
  • Preparation of Process package / Systems Engineering .
  • Review of PFDs, PIDs, MSDs, Process Calculations and Data Sheets for Packages and Equipment and commenting/review on the same for completeness.
  • Develop technical specifications for Package/Equipment. Review of specifications from Client / PMC. 
  • Estimation of Quantities. 
  • Participating in IDC process. Interaction with Engineering disciplines, Clients / PMC, Bidders / Vendors.
  • Preparation of System descriptions, Mechanical Datasheets, MRQs, Review of Quotes, analyzing deviations, raising of TQs, TBEs, MRPs., Service Requisitions. 
  • Review of VPs.
  • Interact with Global offices, execute work on workshare mode.
  • Support project/proposal activities.
  • Participating in Value Engineering, design and cost optimization.
  • Coordinate technical issues with other departments on projects including technical and constructability reviews.
  • Develop standard documentation for use on projects.
  • Implement/Capture Lesson Learnt.
  • Resolving Vendor/Site queries. Interaction with Inspection Agencies, Expeditors, other agencies for delivery of Equipment/Packages.
  • Providing Inputs/Review for Progress reporting.
  • Supporting the project through construction and commissioning phases.
  • Travel to support activities at other engineering offices, supplier’s works, construction sites.
  • Engineering for working on EPC/EPCM, FEED and other modes of project execution.

  • Specific capabilities required / preferred for the role include experience in:
  • Detail engineering for Balance of Plant Packages for CCPP, other fossil fuels used in Power plants.

  • Knowledge of different specific design requirements and construction features.
  • Knowledge in governing codes and standards.
  • Prior experience in handling BTG area System and Equipment will be an added advantage. 
  • Understanding of Inspection requirements. Review of shop and site test procedures.
  • Understand various types of materials to be used for different services and review of vendor proposed materials.
  • Knowledge of other industry / regulatory codes and standards like ANSI, ISO, BS, BIS, IS, ASME, will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with model reviews and Hazop sessions and use of SPR is desirable.
  • Ability to coordinate work with other engineering disciplines.     
  • Broad working knowledge of the principles and practices of executing large projects.
     
    Education required (minimum):
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
     
    The Mechanical Engineer will work as part of Global Bechtel team and should have basic flair for working with personnel of different nationalities. Should have a good proficiency for spoken and written English language.
     
    Candidate to mention their experience in Infra Power, Refinery/Petrochemical units, Off-sites and Utilities, LNG projects indicating details of Equipment/Packages dealt with and extent of Engineering/involvement by self.
     
    Candidate to mention valid visa available including detail of Type, expiry date. Denial of USA visa earlier at any stage need to be indicated.
