Mech Engineer – Fire Protection_Infrastructure                                

Minimum experience : 10 to 15 years

The Mechanical Engineering team is increasing capabilities to support projects in the Infrastructure business unit of Bechtel Global. There is a vacancy in the New Delhi office for Fire Protection Engineer for Metro, Infrastructure and Power projects. Experience in MEP and HVAC would be an added advantage. An engineering degree in Mechanical (B.E / B.Tech) from a reputed institute with an industrial experience of 10 to 15 years’ is required for this position.  Candidate should have hands on experience in National and international projects, working as part of engineering teams for Conceptual/detailed Engg.

This position is at working level and the responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop / Review design documents such as layouts, PIDs and schematics for Fire detection and Protection systems in accordance with the project specifications, applicable codes and standards.
  • Review and approval of the material submittals from supplier for Fire Detection and Protection systems.
  • Develop technical specifications for Equipment/Package. Review of specifications from Client/PMC, Review of Technical Contract requirements for completeness of data.
  • Participate in IDC process and interact with other disciplines, Clients/PMC and Vendors
  • Preparation of MR/SR, bid evaluation, review and approval of vendor prints.
  • Preparation of documentation for approval from Statutory / Regulatory agencies, State and Federal. Coordination with these agencies for getting the approvals in time.
  • Resolving Vendor/Site queries. Interaction with Inspection Agencies, Expeditors, other agencies for delivery of Equipment/Packages
  • Supporting the project through construction and commissioning phases

     

    Specific capabilities required for the role include experience in:

  • Experience on design of fire protection and detection systems, hydraulic calculations and fire network analysis
  • Design of fixed suppression systems (deluge, sprinkler etc.) sprinkler system for a specific occupancy in accordance to the applicable codes and standards.
  • Selection of fire detection and alarm systems for individual areas/buildings and specify overall network requirements
  • knowledge of fire protection codes and standards (NFPA, International Building Code, Life safety codes, ASHRAE, FM Global loss prevention datasheets)
  • Familiarity with Elite Fire or similar other hydraulic calculation tool for sprinkler systems.
  • Understanding of Mechanical HVAC Electrical, Plumbing and Controls systems as applicable to large complex facilities like Airports, Metros and similar public facilities will be an additional advantage.

     

    Details of Equipment/Packages dealt with and extent of Engineering/involvement by self in Metro and other infrastructure projects to be clearly highlighted. Applicants should identify proficiency in any soft skills. Please mention validity of visa including detail of Type, expiry date etc. Denial of USA visa earlier at any stage need to be indicated.
