Job Summary:

In this role, you will support overall estimate generation and consolidation as directed by E&I Estimating leads and Project Estimator following standard processes and procedures. You will assist in the preparation of Electrical & Instrumentation cost estimates, trend estimates, and life cycle cost estimates. Your work ensures accurate cost estimations and will be essential in driving project profitability and excellence in a competitive market. 

 

Major Responsibilities:

Direct Discipline

  • Performs Electrical & Instrumentation discipline capital cost estimates.
  • Coordinates Engineering teams for quantity takeoffs. Resolve queries on takeoffs and establish a firm basis of quantities for scope and quantity reviews..
  • Participates in establishing pricing structures to be applied to quantities for estimates. Ensures that estimate is in line with market trends and pricing. 
  • Applies unit rates (cost and job hour) to quantities and performs portions of the total cost estimate within a discipline or commodity specialty using standard estimating templates.
  • Provides input to estimate basis documentation capturing assumptions, rationale, scope inclusions and exclusions for specific contributions.
  • Helps reporting efforts and estimate summary presentations for estimate reviews.
  • Quantifies and spreads escalation based on project schedule and estimated costs.
  • Researches, develops and maintains costs, quantities, ratios and metrics of the historical cost databases pertaining to specific section.
  • Understands the data and various sources of data. Extracts non-standard data and formulates the data into comparative summary format for analysis.
  • Inputs cost data into the historical cost databases. Files completed estimates with all relevant back-up documentation.
  • Helps the development of estimating standards and procedures.

Overall 

  • Supports overall estimate generation and consolidation as directed by discipline leads and Project Estimator following standard processes and procedures 
  • Assists in the preparation of cost studies, trend estimates, and life cycle cost estimates in area of specialization 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering with 7-12 years of relevant work experience.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in estimating techniques for capital cost development.
  • EPC/EPCM experience on Oil & Gas, Metals & Mining and Semiconductor projects.
