This role is based out of our office in Gurugram

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Highway Engineer with Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a reputed Institute and preferably Master’s Degree in Transportation/Highway engineering with 10 to 15 years of experience of undertaking and managing self-perform transportation and highway design engineering for national or international motorway/ expressway projects. Candidate should have worked in an engineering office or consultancy of repute performing relevant work and is fluent in applicable codes in US, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Europe governing transportation/highway design including AASHTO, US FHWA and TEM. Proficiency in use of one or more industry standard software such as InRoads, MX Roads and Civil 3D is essential. Has broad knowledge in the transportation/highway industry and all relevant disciplines applicable to highway engineering design, including highway and interchange geometrics, alignment, grading, flexible/rigid pavement design, traffic analysis, drainage, highway signing and marking, bridge, signals, ITS and utilities.

Experience of working on gulf projects will be preferred. The position will require travel, some could be extensive and may result in relocation.

 

Essential Job Duties:

  • Will work within a team of transportation and highway related disciplines to support business development and execution of studies, for all stages of Engineering Design for projects around the world. This role will subsequently transition to a project specific assignment
  • Take lead technical role over other engineers or project subgroups for completing specific tasks. Develop design basis report and pavement design calculation. Review and checking of work of subordinate engineer
  • Support Lead Highway Engineer in planning and implementing a program to develop self-perform engineering capabilities and resources
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate self-perform engineering work during all phases of the projects
  • Participate in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements
  • Participate in the preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, proposals, design criteria & specifications, project budget and schedules
  • Oversee and/or participate in the process for technical reviews of contractors, shop drawings, product data, material samples, etc.
  • Deliver project adhering to quality norms, timescale and budget. 
  • Oversees and ensures the integration of the various transportation related engineering systems and disciplines.

 

 

 

Job Knowledge:

  • Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems with an ability to address design analysis of original design
  • Capability of importing survey data file and developing optimum horizontal and vertical alignment options, including super-elevation and clothoids using Bentley InRoads software.
  • Able to understand the geometric layout requirements of traffic impact studies or traffic analysis.
  • Able to check, amend and develop drawings using CAD software. (i.e. MicroStation, AutoCAD).
  • Understanding of engineering planning and control methods including computerized methods.
  • Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements.
  • Coordinates engineering effort in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors and between other groups.
  • Understanding of the roles played by other disciplines like civil works, Hydrology, Traffic and Highway Design, Geotech and Construction etc.
  • Ability to work independently and be sensitive to environmental and social considerations associated with large scale motorway / highway projects.
  • Skill in oral and written communication and writing technical reports.
  • Exposure to traffic engineering and experience in Field engineering, construction and T&C activities will be an added advantage.
