CSA - Highway Designer (Gurugram)

Job Description

This role is based out of our office in Gurugram


Designer with Diploma / Degree in Civil Engineering from a reputed institute with minimum 10 years of experience of working on design & engineering of large scale national or international motorway/ expressway projects.  Candidate should have worked in an engineering office or consultancy of repute having experience of undertaking and managing drawing production for self-perform transportation and highway design from feasibility to detailed engineering, commissioning and as-builts. Proficiency in use of one or more industry standard software such as Inroads, MX Roads and Civil 3D and experience in AutoCAD, MicroStation are essential. Has broad knowledge in highway engineering drawing production including highway and interchange geometrics, alignment, grading, pavement, drainage, highway signing and marking, lighting, bridge, signals, ITS and utilities. Ability to process large scale 3D data associated with Lidar, GIS and other surveys is desirable.

Experience of working on gulf projects will be preferred. The position will require travel, some could be extensive and may result in relocation.


Essential Job Duties:

  • Prepare model & drawings and coordinate self-perform CADD work during all phases of the projects
  • Work independently with minor supervision and technical direction from lead designer on assigned work, check work of subordinate designers, drafters, technicians and others who assist in performing specific assignments.
  • Support Lead Highway Engineer in planning and implementing a program to develop self-perform engineering capabilities and resources
  • Assist in the preparation of the Project set-up folders and adherence to the appropriate CAD standards related to preparation of 3d model, drawings and accuracy of associated data
  • Participate in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs 
  • Provide CADD support in the preparation of conceptual studies, designs and proposals
  • Participate in the process for technical reviews of contractors, shop drawings, product data, material samples, etc.
  • Deliver project adhering to quality norms, timescale and budget. 

Job Knowledge:

  • Thorough knowledge of discipline CADD techniques of modeling and drawing. As a minimum has the capability of preparing drawings for Typical cross sections; Plan & profile; Culvert cross sections; Bridge plan and profile; 10m interval of cross sections; Horizontal alignment setting out data; Mass haul diagram; Traffic signs and lane marking; Safety barriers; ROW plans and coordinates; Spot elevations and contours at gore areas
  • Understanding of Engineering Department CADD Procedures. Broad knowledge of the CADD application to plant constructability
  • Able to check, amend and develop drawings using CAD software. (i.e. MicroStation, AutoCAD).
  • Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements.
  • Understanding of the roles played by other disciplines like civil works, Hydrology, Traffic and Highway Design, Geotech and Construction etc.
  • Ability to work independently and be sensitive to environmental and social considerations associated with large scale motorway / highway projects.
  • Skill in oral and written communication and writing technical reports.
