Job Summary:

Electrical Engineer experience on basic and detailed design and project co-ordination of Electrical works on Solar and other renewables Plants. Has a good knowledge of Electrical System and Physical design, the principles, and practices of related technical areas and of coordinating with other technical disciplines. Candidate should have exposure to Indian, US, Euro and other foreign codes/standards and local practices.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews engineering work within a discipline on a project or assignment in a global business unit. 
  • Supervises the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, specialists, designers and drafters. 
  • Conducts annual performance reviews for direct reports in accordance with approved procedures and holds career development discussions. 
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly. 
  • Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates. 
  • Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain their approval on phases of work. 
  • Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations, including field and design documents relating to the discipline. 
  • Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups. 
  • Ensures that engineers supervised receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development. 
  • Promotes the creation of a work environment, assisted by leadership, which fosters directness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A recognized bachelor’s/master’s degree in electrical engineering, from an accredited college or university with an overall experience of minimum 13 years.
  • Site experience will be an added advantage

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Hands on Experience of Electrical System Study tool DigSilent Power Factory. System Studies (Load Flow, Short Circuit, Harmonic Analysis, Transient Stability Studies), voltage drop calculations, single line diagram, protection & metering diagrams, relay setting & protection coordination of the system.
  • Insulation Coordination and EMT studies using PSCAD (Preferred).
  • Integration of Renewable Energy plant with existing Electrical system, Grid experience is preferred.
  • Should possess good knowledge of international codes & standards.
  • Should have worked on equipment sizing, specifications, MR preparation, technical bid evaluation and vendor print reviews of various electrical equipment like Transformers, Busducts, MV & LV Switchgear, Inverters, DC systems / UPS, Cables, lighting fixtures.
  • Vendor Prints Review of packages.
  • Should be conversant with electrical layouts like raceways, lighting, grounding & lightning protection, etc.
  • Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
  • Knowledge of inter discipline coordination.
  • Knowledge of related construction practices and economics involved.
  • Knowledge of industry /regulatory codes and standards, and design and/or layout criteria.
  • Skill in oral and written communication, demonstrated skill in leadership.
  • Working knowledge of Software like DigSilent Power factory, PSCAD, ETAP shall be preferred.
