Job Summary:

The open international tax position provides the opportunity to join a seasoned and dynamic 37-person global tax team, in one of the world’s largest private companies. The position is based in our New Delhi, India office in Gurugram, reporting to the International Tax Director, Provision & Compliance in the Reston, Virginia headquarters in the U.S.  As a member of the global international tax team, you will have the opportunity for broad experience.  The primary function of this position is the timely preparation and support of assigned responsibilities relating to U.S. international tax compliance, quarterly tax provision and forecasting, and supporting regional tax teams in APAC, EAM, and the Americas.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepare U.S. international tax return schedules and workpapers.  Support tax return and reporting information.
  • Follow departmental review procedures, practices and instructions in preparing U.S. tax returns, reports, and filings.
  • Communicate with businesses to request appropriate information as needed.
  • Support preparation of the quarterly tax provision and analyzing tax information for year-end financial statements.
  • Prepare foreign entity tax provision, forecasts, and FIN 48/ASC 740-10 uncertain tax positions, coordinating with regional tax teams as necessary.
  • Reconcile tax accounts.
  • Demonstrate the highest professional and personal ethical standards, including following Bechtel’s Vision, Values and Commitments.
  • Participate, as assigned, in any requested tax special projects, with an openness to learn various types of tasks and processes.
  • Participate in training and career development, as authorized, including U.S. tax technical training, professional continuing education, Bechtel University online courses, and progress toward job-related professional certifications.
  • Actively support and coordinate with tax team members located in Australia, the U.K., and the U.S., in relation to tax planning and advice for international E&C projects, tax and transfer pricing compliance and tax provision review for foreign entities, adhering to internally imposed and statutory deadlines, as well as provide regular status updates.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Accounting undergraduate or masters degree.
  • Minimum 3 to 6 years of international and corporate tax experience with a Big 4 accounting firm and/or industry. 
  • Completed or working towards post graduate qualification e.g., Chartered Accountant, CPA, MBA or Masters of Tax a plus.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. and/or foreign corporate / international tax rules and U.S. / International tax accounting standards. 
  • Experience with U.S. foreign information form preparation (IRS Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, and 8975), foreign source income, foreign tax credit, and GILTI calculation.
  • Knowledge of tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740 / IAS 12.
  • Motivated for continuous learning of unfamiliar or evolving areas of U.S. taxation.
  • Strong business acumen with ability to think strategically and critically. 
  • Strong analytical “what if” and “why” skills along with good tax accounting abilities.  Quantitative orientation with curiosity and critical thinking, including ability to ask questions about why results come out the way they do.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with some supervision, and able to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks; also, with self-awareness of when to ask for help and/or flag material issues/ambiguities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel & Word, OneSource tax return software.
  • Experience in Oracle Report Writer (CFAR) and Hyperion a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Works very well in a virtual team environment.
  • Flexibility needed to attend teleconferences early or late in the day, and possible work a specific shift to better coincide with U.S. working hours.
