Job Summary:

This position will prepare, review, and presents Civil, Structural, Architectural discipline CAPEX estimates for projects and proposals for Motorways, Large Infrastructure (like Airports etc), Semiconductors, Manufacturing, Datacentres, Combined Cycle, Carbon Capture, Mining, Oil, Gas and Chemicals. Responsible for developing all Class of estimates (Conceptual to Execute), performs material and labor cost analysis, develops and updates historical databases, and enhances department procedures. Supports estimate reporting and reviews.  Executes other simultaneous tasks within broadly defined parameters for estimating department. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepares CAPEX CSA discipline cost estimates for all class of estimates from Conceptual to Execute.
  • Performs quantity take offs for a discipline or commodity specialty using defined documents.  Collects, reconciles, and verifies data for summary comparisons.
  • Skill in understanding technical processes, engineering drawings, quantity determinations, and mathematical and financial records.
  • Works with other disciplines and functions to collect all necessary data on scope and quantities to prepare an accurate estimate in specialty discipline areas.
  • Produces cost estimates using crew-based approach including formation of crews from multiple crafts.
  • Prepares estimate basis documentation capturing assumptions, rationale, scope inclusions and exclusions for specific contributions.
  • Prepares estimate summaries and presentations for all reviews: like Project Reviews, Sr Management or Client Estimate reviews. 
  • Ensures that estimate is in line with market trends and pricing.
  • Researches, develops and maintains costs, quantities, ratios and metrics of the historical cost databases pertaining to specific section. Understands the data and various sources of data.  Extracts non-standard data and formulates the data into comparative summary format for analysis.
  • Inputs cost data into the historical cost databases.  Files completed estimates with all relevant back-up documentation yielding an easy-to-follow paper trail.
  • Manages variations, trends, and changes to base estimate and ensures that implications of changes are evaluated before finalizing the solution.
  • Assists in enhancements for estimating standards and procedures.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Engineering degree and 10+ years of Industry experience with 3+ years on job site with exposure towards CSA cost estimates.
  • Experience in parametric estimating techniques.
  • Proficiency in any industry leading cost estimating software.
  • Understands Greenfield, Modular, and Brownfield Execution Scopes.
  • Basic knowledge and experience with EPC estimating methods, processes, and procedures including the full range estimate classifications levels.
  • Effective in utilizing metrics to provide reasonableness checks.
  • Knowledge of construction methods and construction practices.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Engineering degree with experience in latest estimating software.
  • CAPEX EPC/EPCM estimating experience in Motorways, Large Infrastructure (like Airports etc), Semiconductors, Manufacturing, Datacentres, Combined Cycle, Carbon Capture, Mining, Oil, Gas and Chemicals.
  • Familiar with commercial terms and conditions (contractor relationships, currency exchange, inflation, insurance, escalation, etc.) and with market pricing in area of specialization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access. PowerPoint) is a must
  • Excellent communication skills to connect with others in a project team
