Job Summary:

The Autodesk Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions across Autodesk platforms to enhance engineering productivity, data integration, and BIM workflows. The role involves developing custom plug-ins, APIs, and tools using Autodesk Forma (ACC), Revit, Navisworks, and other Autodesk platforms. The engineer will support digital transformation initiatives by integrating BIM processes with engineering workflows, ensuring compliance with project requirements, and improving efficiency through automation solutions.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain custom plug-ins and automation tools using Autodesk APIs including Revit API, Navisworks API, Autodesk Forma (ACC) APIs, and related platforms.
  • Design and implement automation workflows to streamline BIM, engineering, and design processes across projects.
  • Integrate Autodesk platforms (ACC, Revit, Navisworks) with enterprise systems using APIs, .NET frameworks, and database technologies.
  • Develop scalable solutions using C#, Python, and .NET technologies to support engineering automation requirements.
  • Work closely with BIM, engineering, and project teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Support development and enhancement of BIM workflows, automation scripts, and digital delivery processes.
  • Maintain and enhance data exchange processes between BIM models, databases, and external applications.
  • Perform troubleshooting, debugging, and optimization of existing automation tools and APIs.
  • Ensure adherence to company BIM standards, digital execution plans, and automation best practices.
  • Develop technical documentation, user guides, and training material for developed tools and solutions.
  • Provide technical support and training to project teams on automation tools and Autodesk platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, BIM, and engineering disciplines to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated with latest developments in Autodesk technologies, APIs, and digital construction trends.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related discipline from a recognized university with 5 to 10 years of experience in engineering automation, BIM development, or software development within AEC/EPC industry.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong experience in developing plug-ins using:
  • Autodesk Revit API
  • Navisworks API
  • Autodesk Forma (ACC) APIs
  • Other Autodesk Platform Services (APS) / Forge APIs
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Python, and .NET framework.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL / PL SQL for database integration and data handling.
  • Strong understanding of BIM workflows, AEC and EPC project lifecycle processes.
  • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and cloud-based collaboration workflows.
  • Understanding model coordination, data exchange, and digital engineering processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to manage priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.
