Project Overview:
The Cheniere Corpus Christi Liquefaction (CCL) Project is a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export facility located on the north shore of Corpus Christi Bay in Gregory, Texas. Bechtel has successfully and safely completed construction and it now consists of three operating Trains with an LNG production capacity of approximately 15 million tons per year (MTPA), three LNG storage tanks with combined capacity of 480,000 cubic meters of LNG, 2 Jetty superstructures that can accommodate the world’s largest vessels, and dozens of associated buildings and utilities.
Corpus Christi Liquefaction Project Stage 3 (CCL3) is a new phase at the existing CCL facility and will consist of seven midscale liquefaction trains with an LNG production capacity of approximately 10 MTPA and associated infrastructure including utilities. CCL3 will perform all this work predominantly on a direct hire basis with support from only a few specialty and service subcontractors.
Job Summary:
Assists in the development and implementation of the safety management program on an assigned project. Provides technical oversight of the project’s ES&H compliance activities through identification and integration of applicable requirements into project construction plans and schedules and other field execution activities. Works directly with other project-level functional leads (e.g., engineering, construction, subcontracts, procurement, project controls, document controls) to assist them in integrating and/or addressing the applicable ES&H requirements in their work products and activities. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule if required, including, but not limited to day shift, nightshift, or split shift. #LI-VB1
Major Responsibilities:
- Implements the project-level safety management program
- Provides assistance to project and construction management in implementing and complying with project safety requirements and in addressing ES&H issues as they arise during project execution
- Coordinates with and provides technical assistance to other project-assigned functional leads (e.g., engineering, subcontracts, procurement, project controls) with regards to compliance with project-specific ES&H requirements
- Participates in meetings with customers, project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of safety requirements that may affect project design, schedule, and cost
- Provides technical support and assistance directly to construction supervision and subcontractors in planning and executing field activities in accordance with the project safety requirements
- Provides support in comprehensive project ES&H planning, safety and health specific plans, project specific mitigation plans, safety and health awareness training programs, and technical and regulatory reports
- Conducts safety assessments/inspections of project construction activities to monitor compliance with ES&H requirements including contractual commitments, laws and regulations, and the project’s ES&H plan
- Implements personnel policies (e.g., conducts employee performance evaluations) and provides technical direction to staff and policies and processes established by management.

- Identifies training needs, coaches employees
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Advanced knowledge in a field of science, safety/industrial engineering, or related discipline
- Knowledge of safety programs/engineering systems, principles, and methodologies
- Knowledge of national and international safety laws/regulations and regulatory agencies’ regulatory requirements and responsibilities, industry standards/current practices for ES&H, and best management practices for minimizing potential ES&H risks during project execution
- Knowledge of engineering and construction systems, methods, and work processes
- Knowledge of construction planning, estimating, procedures, and execution
- Prior practical work experience in office settings (e.g., managing ES&H programs, budgets and staff) and field locations (e.g., construction execution and/or operating facilities) performing the responsibilities listed above
- Experience in managing and/or providing technical oversight of ES&H subcontractors or consultants
- Experience in ES&H assessments/inspection during construction
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and physical risks and the mechanisms to mitigate them
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead team members effectively & positively in a collaborative team environment
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in high pressure situations
- Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience preferable along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Additional Information: This position has a work scope that includes spending up to 80% of time conducting field inspections and requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting up to 60 lbs may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task.
