Role Overview:



Responsible for performing quality assurance (QA) activities, focusing on QA audits and surveillances for Wylfa.  Participates on audit teams as auditor, prospective lead auditor, or lead auditor, and conducts surveillances independently or as part of a team.  Responsible for development of audit checklists, performing audits and surveillances, writing audit reports and audit findings.  Works with the responsible personnel to ensure accurate development and completion of corrective action plans.   Provides technical direction to junior Quality personnel, as required.


Initial assignment location is Gloucester UK. Site mobilisation is forecast in 2020/2021 for construction execution in Anglesey Island, Wales.




1.     Supports Wylfa QA Audit and Surveillance Programme.

2.     Prepares quality assurance audit and assessment checklists and participates in quality assurance audits and surveillances of the Wylfa scope as an auditor, prospective lead auditor or a certified lead auditor.

3.     Supports the monitoring of Wylfa engineering, safety, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, decommissioning and other activities related to the quality programme/plan.

4.     Reviews and monitors nonconforming conditions and associated corrective actions.

5.     Reviews and reports on documents to ensure the inclusion of applicable quality requirements.

6.     Supports the identification of quality problems and the development of solutions; initiates documented actions and verifies implementation of solutions.

7.     Supports the drafting of quality assurance procedures for review, approval and issue in accordance with approved procedures.

8.     Reviews and reports on new or revised regulatory requirements and their impact on the established quality assurance program.

9.     Follows up on actions taken in response to audit findings to ensure adequacy of completed corrective actions.

10.  Makes contact with designated client quality personnel.

11.  Provides technical direction to junior Quality personnel, as required.

12.  Works with other project or staff personnel to develop corrective action plans which assist in the resolution of complex issues.

13.  Provides input to metrics and responds to engineering, construction, procurement and others who request guidance on implementation of quality requirements.

14.  Reports to QA Audit & Surveillance Manager on the effectiveness and implementation of Project Quality Programme.

15.  Analyses audit and surveillance data to identify and drive project improvement actions.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Right to work in the UK without sponsorship
  • Knowledge in the application of engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, or operations or decommissioning practices sufficient to comprehend specified engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, decommissioning and regulatory requirements. 
  • Knowledge of the quality assurance principles and their application to Wylfa scope.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the application of corrective actions to nonconforming conditions.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and functions that impact the QA program.
  • Proficient in the use of computer applications.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Certified ASME NQA-1 Lead Auditor and / or ISO9001 Lead Auditor or ability to become qualified
  • Specialized courses in engineering, quality or a specialized discipline
  • Practical work experience in fields of engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, decommissioning or business administration
