The Bechtel Security Operations Center (SOC) is looking for a highly motivated, technically inclined individual to work as an Automation Security Engineer. A successful candidate will need to embody our Visions, Values, and Covenants; especially Learn it, Do it, Share it. By developing trust with groups and stakeholders, practice extreme ownership of issues and demonstrate unique problem-solving skills. You need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced technically challenging environment.


This position supports security engineering and operations as well as incident response activities. You will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating security response activities for a wide range of technologies. You will need a combination of troubleshooting, technical, and communication skills, as well as the ability to handle an assortment of tasks which may include small-project and software development work.   • Develop and maintain a security automation roadmap
  • Lead security orchestration and automated response efforts
  • Build collaborative relationships with Operations and Engineering teams
  • Participate in incident response activities
  • Support security metrics through automated testing and auditing of security controls
  • Contribute to information security planning: strategy, standards, roadmaps, prioritization.
  • Support compliance efforts by producing security-related artifacts
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of information security threats and vulnerabilities
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of major information security frameworks/guidance, e.g., CSA Controls Matrix, NIST CSF
  • Other duties as assigned 


Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ equivalent information security experience.
  • 5+ years of incident response experience
  • 5+ years experience with internet security issues, cloud architectures, and threat landscape.
  • Familiarity with cloud architecture/infrastructure and general networking principles.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen


Additional Qualifications:


  • Extensive knowledge of security technology, risk assessment methodologies, policies, systems, and/or network administration
  • Experience with virtualization technologies/Infrastructure.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency in Python (or other scripting languages)
  • Exceptional collaborative skills including networking, negotiating, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable and adaptable in a fast-paced and informal environment. Ability to respond and react to changing priorities quickly and efficiently
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking, debugging, and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience developing and executing test plans for software projects with manual and automated testing
  • Familiarity with commercial and open-source SOAR technologies such as Hive, Demisto, Phantom, etc



Level 1:

  • 5+ years’ equivalent information security experience.
  • 5+ years of incident response experience
  • 5+ years’ experience with internet security issues, cloud architectures, and threat landscape.


Level 2:

  • 7+ years’ equivalent information security experience.
  • 7+ years of incident response experience
  • 7+ years’ experience with internet security issues, cloud architectures, and threat landscape.
