Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Western Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Perth where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel’s capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will report to the Construction Projects Manager and may manage the work efforts of materials handling coordinators.
Major Responsibilities:
Leadership / Supervision
- Manages the work efforts of professionals.
- Makes decisions based on unit objectives, as well as company policies and procedures
- Assists and mentors less experienced team members.
Planning / Productivity
- Reviews plans at the site for adequacy of material warehousing, maintenance, control, and handling.
- Coordinates with Construction and Supply Chain the plans for material identification, material availability in support of installation plans, and equipment requiring special handling at the site.
- Interfaces with responsible groups that materials are provided in a timely manner and in sufficient quantity to support the completion of construction work.
- Participates in Contractor planning meetings to be fully aware of changes in installation plans and priorities.
Materials & Equipment
- Monitors Engineering and Supply Chain deliverable schedules and ensures will meet the construction schedule.
- Follows guidelines to optimize the materials planning work processes for key material commodities.
Safety & Quality
- Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
- Implements and enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
- Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of related construction systems, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials for major infrastructure or aviation projects.
- Ability to coordinate large scale construction activities and establish and maintain strong and effective stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to work across disciplines and manage competing priorities.
- Computer literate in MS Office and database applications required.
