Project Overview 

This position is for an aviation project in Ireland. Bechtel will be working in an integrated team with our client to support the delivery of a Capital Investment Plan of circa €2bn within an operating airport environment.   


The ideal candidate would be a team player capable of adapting to an integrated team environment. A driven self-starter, confident, agile, articulate, and capable of leading change by example. Collaborative and flexible to meet all the demands of the client.


Role Overview 

The Schedule Lead is responsible for a team of schedulers that help in the successful delivery of schedule data for new projects and tracking & reporting on the status of live projects. The candidate must be comfortable leading a team, developing sustainable scheduling processes, influencing contractors, and help influence the scheduling culture across the program. 


Main Responsibilities 

  • Oversee schedule management activities, including review of internal schedules and review of contractor schedules.  

  • Validate and report on time impacts, scope change impacts, or delays to enable early identification of risks, driving transparency, and predictability. 

  • Facilitate cross-project schedule meetings to align on scheduling expectations, optimize schedules, and drive consistency in scheduling methodology. 

  • Assist in planning future projects, phases of work and future staffing. 

  • Develop interfaces between schedulers, cost, and risk management teams to inform accurate spend forecasting, risk identification, and cost loadings. 

  • Develop and analyse deviations from baseline in the Project Master schedule, highlighting bottlenecks, delays, and propose corrective actions. 


Basic and Preferred Experience 

  • 12+ years’ experience, with 5+ years within the aviation and / or transport industry. 

  • Experience in coordinating multiple sources of schedule inputs and performance data into a master schedule.  

  • Experience building critical path schedules from knowledge and first principles, interviewing and leading workshops with project resources.  

  • Experienced in defining and agreeing on progress reporting approaches with contractors. 

  • Familiar with large capital programs, extensive pre-construction programming, and scheduling experience managing complex, multi-group, multi-disciplinary development projects. 

  • Experience managing contractor relationships and understanding of best practices in the design and construction industry, including knowledge of Last Planner, Lean Methodologies and fast-track design-build process. 

  • Experience leading a team of diverse backgrounds and experience towards a single project outcome. 



  • Process-driven with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, motivating, and supporting others. 

  • Extremely proficient in Primavera P6.  

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.


Basic & Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, or equivalent technical degree. 

  • Membership of a relevant professional organization is preferable.
