Project Overview 

This position is for an aviation project in Ireland. Bechtel will be working in an integrated team with our client to support the delivery of a Capital Investment Plan of circa €2bn within an operating airport environment. 

 

The ideal candidate would be a team player capable of adaptation to an integrated team environment. A driven self-starter, confident, agile, articulate and capable of leading change by example. Collaborative and flexible to meet all the demands of the client.

 

Role Overview 

The PSDP and PSCS Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the  PSDP and  PSCS entities and activities on behalf of the Client to ensure compliance with the HSSE requirements across the Programme. The Coordinator will provide the Client with effective Health & Safety leadership by means of coordinating, building and maintaining a safety culture. The Coordinator will ensure the Client maintains regulatory compliance with Construction Health & Safety Legislation and Regulations. 

 

Main Responsibilities 

  • Be the point of contact on behalf of the client for the management and coordination of all PSDP and PSCS leads across the programme. 
  • Develop and implement procedures to effectively communicate the Client’s ES&H requirements to all PSDPs and PSCSs. 
  • Develop a strategy to coordinate the activities of all PSDP’s and PSCS’s. Reviewing and tracking actions. 
  • Ensure regular coordination between PSDPs and PSCSs across the programme. 
  • Identify extent of work areas for discrete construction projects and identify corresponding extent of PSDP and PSCS responsibility. 
  • Identify overlap between projects with respect to responsibilities of PSDPs and PSCSs. 
  • Resolve / escalate potential conflicts between PSDP and PSCS leads. 
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure PSDP and PSCS leads are performing in compliance with their duties. 
  • Be involved in any incident investigations to ensure root cause is identified and corrective actions implemented. 
  • Develop key metrics to be used in managing and mitigating ES&H risks.

 

Experience 

  • 15 years+ experience in Health and Safety across major infrastructure and engineering projects, including in the aviation industry. 
  • Experience of working with the relevant national and international legislation particularly with respect to the duties and responsibilities of the PSDP and PSCS 
  • Knowledge of the Health & Safety principles associated with best practice for operating in a live airport site  
  • Strong and demonstrable leadership and management experience in health and safety 
  • Experience in developing, maintaining and operating within challenging Safety Management Systems 

  

Skills 

  • Able to identify Health & Safety performance indicators. 
  • Excellent written communications and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong influencing and leadership skills. 
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and handle conflicting priorities. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Degree in relevant discipline (Engineering, Project Management etc.) with a recognized post-graduate qualification in ES&H. 
  • Chartered member of IOSH.
