Project Overview:

Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) business unit serves the increasing demand for EPC services across data centers, semiconductor facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and electric vehicle markets. M&T projects are complex, fast paced, and execution focused, requiring strong integration between construction, commissioning, and startup teams.
M&T leverages disciplined execution, proven work processes, and innovative digital technologies to safely deliver projects and meet customer operational readiness objectives.

Job Summary:

The Systems Completions Digital Specialist (Commissioning & Startup) supports Commissioning and Startup (CSU) teams by configuring, supporting, and continuously improving digital applications used during construction, commissioning, system turnover, and startup.
This Houston based role works closely with Project Startup Managers, construction teams, and project automation personnel to ensure systems completions and startup applications are fully populated with required, quality controlled data and aligned with approved EPC work processes. The position spans office based configuration and planning activities as well as onsite execution support, requiring comfort working in both a professional office environment and on active major capital project jobsites.
The ideal candidate brings strong familiarity with EPC execution, particularly Commissioning and Startup, along with demonstrated aptitude for learning, configuring, and supporting digital systems. Experience with Procore and Hexagon Smart Completions is strongly preferred, but successful performance in this role depends on overall digital capability and CSU workflow knowledge rather than expertise with any single platform.
Domestic travel to project jobsites within the United States is expected, up to approximately 25 percent of the time.

"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership"  #LI-AA1

Major Responsibilities:

•    Support the deployment, configuration, and use of digital applications that enable Commissioning and Startup execution, including systems completions, system turnover, and startup reporting
•    Establish, configure, and maintain commissioning related data structures including system lists, tags, assets, forms, templates, and workflows to ensure completeness, accuracy, and quality control in alignment with the Project Automation Plan
•    Act as a primary digital point of contact for CSU teams during construction, commissioning, turnover, and startup phases
•    Configure, support, and continuously improve systems completions tools such as Hexagon Smart Completions and other startup automation applications
•    Provide hands on user support, troubleshooting, and field level assistance for CSU personnel and project teams, both remotely and onsite
•    Develop and deliver role based training, job aids, and best practice guidance for commissioning and startup digital tools
•    Support startup reporting, metrics, performance curves, dashboards, and data extracts used to track system completion, readiness, and progress
•    Collaborate with Project Startup Managers, Site Automation teams, Project Field Engineers, and functional stakeholders to identify data gaps, workflow issues, and improvement opportunities
•    Participate in testing, migration planning, and controlled rollout of new versions, enhancements, or configurations for startup automation tools
•    Evaluate and recommend digital tools and configuration improvements with emphasis on scalable, repeatable solutions that can be applied across multiple projects
•    Maintain data quality, consistency, and compliance with project, business unit, and enterprise requirements
•    Travel domestically to project sites as required to support CSU execution, system readiness, and user adoption
•    Perform other duties as assigned in support of Commissioning and Startup execution

Education and Experience Requirements:

•    Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent in Information Systems, Construction Management, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, and 8+ years of relevant experience supporting construction, commissioning, startup, engineering, or technical consulting activities on large capital projects
or
•    12+ years of relevant work experience supporting construction, commissioning, startup, engineering, or technical consulting activities on large capital projects in lieu of a degree

Required Knowledge and Skills:

•    Strong understanding of EPC project execution with emphasis on Commissioning, Startup, and system turnover
•    Demonstrated aptitude for learning, configuring, and supporting digital applications used on major capital projects
•    Experience supporting commissioning software, systems completions tools, or digital work processes
•    Familiarity with Hexagon Smart Completions and/or Procore is strongly preferred but not required
•    Ability to translate CSU work processes into structured, quality controlled digital workflows and system configurations
•    Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with field teams and CSU leadership
•    Experience developing or delivering training, job aids, or user guidance for digital systems
•    Ability to assess issues, identify root causes, and implement durable, repeatable solutions
•    Comfortable working in both a professional office environment and on active construction or industrial jobsites
•    Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to approximately 25 percent
