Project Overview:
The Ar Rjum Project comprises a green field gold project with three open pit mining operations with associated waste dumps and ore stockpile, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure including water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, temporary and permanent accommodation village. The Project is situated within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and about 26 km South of Al Mouwayh, which is a small town situated on the Jeddah – Riyadh highway.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for leading the Pre-Commissioning team from initial planning through to the execution of site activities on the Ar Rjum Gold Project (ARGP). You will coordinate with project management, engineering, construction, and customer to leverage diverse technical team skills to integrate the pre-commissioning and commissioning startup plan of the ARGP. You will identify risks and trends, manage progress reporting, and proactively course correct to ensure goals, schedules, and requirements are met. Your team will also be responsible to provide support to the customer during commissioning, start-up and performance testing activities.
Major Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Pre-Commissioning Manager has overall responsibility for supervising and directing the pre-commissioning activities of the multidisciplinary Ar Rjum Gold Project (ARGP) team.
This includes:
- Conducts execution planning for project scope through plans, procedures, schedules, and budgets
- Coordinating with the other disciplines and organizations to prepare and execute a plan to complete all pre-commissioning and commissioning testing on the ARGP in a best for project optimised and structured manner.
- Turnover coordination and Sub-System Handover to the customer at completion of pre-commissioning (C2)
- Provide support to the customer team during no-load testing, load commissioning and performance testing.
- Leading the multidisciplinary Pre-Commissioning team of the project
- Assigning priorities and making continuous and daily monitoring of the execution of the scheduled tasks.
- Supervises and provides technical guidance to subordinate supervisors or startup engineers assigned to the project
- Reviewing and supervising the Construction and Pre-Commissioning schedules, resource histogram and the requirements of materials and equipment, for a correct execution of the activities.
- Leading the impact of interferences on the interfaces with construction to ensure that they coincide with the established general schedules and do not impact on dates and safety of the project.
- Preparing activity plan and tests at component level, at subsystem level and integrated tests at system level.
- Prepares or directs the preparation of operations manuals
- Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates
- Leading meetings with the different project and customer teams, reporting progress, identifying critical work and actions to be performed.
- Preparing, awarding and managing specialized subcontracts as needed to support pre-commissioning activities. Provide training as needed.
- Ensuring that the Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) for energy isolation is followed to the letter in each of the associated field activities.
- Preparing detailed plans for the pre-commissioning and ensuring the correct update and completed in the Smart Completions databases.
- Directing, carrying out and participating in the process of Turnover / delivery of the subsystems / systems, both from construction to Commissioning, including the development, monitoring and resolution of the items on the to-do list (punch list) of the area of responsibility.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience leading a pre-commissioning/commissioning team on the commissioning of a large-scale mining process facility (Gold preferred)
- Experience using Bechtel’s Start-Up, Testing, and Commissioning Procedures (STCP), Pre-Commissioning Testing processes and procedures.
- Experience in the commissioning of gold mine processing facilities.
- Experience in remote work locations, including the Middle East.
- Extensive experience in working with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) for a multi-functional large-scale project (Mining/Oil & Gas/Heavy Industry)
- Thorough knowledge of all phases of onsite work execution relating to commissioning pre-planning, team establishment, field testing activities and project management
- Database Management (Smart Completions).
- Spoken and Written English.
- Leadership of large diverse teams
- Autonomy to deliver.
- A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, construction management and/or extensive actual work experience leading to the thorough understanding of the knowledge described above
