Project Overview:

Bechtel is pursuing a significant new award of work in Egypt. The Project will cover the development of luxurious residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, tourism amenities, and economic zones. If successful, Bechtel’s contract for the delivery of this project will be for project management and construction management services. 

Job Summary:

The Deputy Finance and Accounting Manager (Lead Accountant) will be responsible for supporting the Project F&A Manager with oversight and execution of all Finance activities associated with a Project. This position will receive day-to-day directions from the Project F&A Manager and will functionally report to the Infrastructure Finance Manager. This position will be based in Egypt.

 

Duties will include having an understanding of the financial requirements of the client prime contract and supporting the Project F&A Manager with implementing accounting procedures and work processes necessary to support the project's activities as well as assisting with the implementation of administrative controls to ensure compliance with internal (Bechtel) and external (GAAP/client) requirements. Candidate will be responsible for filling in for the Project F&A Manager to support the projects’ rotational leave policy.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Support the establishment and implementation of financial and administrative controls for the Project in accordance with Bechtel policies and procedures and client's requirements.
  • Assist in ensuring the Project books of accounts, including general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and detailed job cost and commitment ledgers are accurate, complete and compliant with Bechtel policies.
  • May be required to provide support with corporate reporting requirements for the Project books and assist with various reporting requirements for the Project.
  • Supervises the Client billings and ensures they are in accordance with contractual terms of the project’s prime contract.
  • Works closely with the BBS Shared Services to team to ensure billing, accounts payable and tax filings are accurate and compliant.
  • Collaborates with the procurement and contracts team to ensure accurate and timely payments to suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Supports the Project F&A Manager with analysis of financial information, estimates of costs, and preparation of forecasts and ad-hoc management reporting as required by Project and GBU Management.
  • Supports client's inquiries and audits relative to finance-related matters and works with client representatives to interpret provisions of contracts as it relates to accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with multiple teams across various regions and time zones.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's (or international equivalent) and 7+ years of relevant experience or 10 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of organizational structure, policies and procedures.
  • Experience and proficiency in basic accounting functions such as payroll, payables, receivables, billing and financial accounting. Skill in analyzing and problem-solving techniques as applied to accounting.
  • Excellent skills in working with and communicating effectively orally and in writing with internal and external personnel.
  • Very proficient in computer applications and common software products. Able to develop complex spreadsheets with complex formulas, macros and ad hoc report writing.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial issues including an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Good Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively function in a matrix organization.
  • Requires working knowledge of computer systems operations as applied to accounting functions at larger projects.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, provide early recognition of potential problems.
  • Experience in supervisory activities.
  • Experience and proficiency in basic accounting functions such as payroll, payables, receivables, billing, and financial accounting. Skill in analyzing and problem-solving techniques as applied to accounting.
