Job Summary:

This role involves leading and coordinating cost estimating activities across major projects or multiple smaller efforts. Responsibilities include planning, analyzing, consolidating, and directing estimates, while offering guidance and support to teams. The position may also include departmental administrative duties and oversight of project-level tasks.

This position requires frequent travel and may involve the potential for relocation, depending on project needs. Major Responsibilities:

Estimate Development & Execution

  • Lead estimates from start to finish, including planning and team coordination.
  • Ensure quality, accuracy, and integration of lessons learned.
  • Collaborate on proposal strategies with Proposal Management and partners.
  • Document assumptions and understand client requirements.
  • Define conceptual scopes and apply contingency strategies for undefined elements.
  • Support bid evaluations for cost and schedule.
  • Prepare estimates for professional services, indirect costs, temporary facilities, tools, equipment, startup, insurance, and field operations.
  • Present estimate packages clearly to stakeholders.
  • Perform and review escalation and contingency calculations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to productivity, pricing, wage rates, and quantity variations.

Estimating Standards & Tools

  • Develop and maintain estimating standards, procedures, databases, and tools.
  • Lead training and on-the-job development in estimating practices.
  • Analyze cost and commercial data to improve estimating methods.

Project Support & Cost Analysis

  • Conduct cost studies using historical data and benchmarks to improve accuracy.
  • Convert estimates into budgets, communicate assumptions, and highlight scope differences.
  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor data for metrics and cost analysis.
  • Participate in Value Engineering studies to optimize scope and value.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Deep expertise in estimating, cost engineering, and EPC execution for mining and metals projects.
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver complex, multi-discipline estimates aligned with Bechtel standards.
  • Strong knowledge of cost indexes, escalation, contingency, benchmarking, and global pricing.
  • Technical understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning in mining and processing facilities.
  • Effective communicator with experience presenting estimates and insights to leadership and clients.
  • Solid grasp of commercial and financial elements including indirect costs, insurance, taxes, invoicing, and profitabilit
  • OTHER REQUIREMNTS:
    Proficient in report writing, presentations, and delivery.
