Bechtel is seeking a Chief Civil Engineer for the Texas High Speed Rail Project located in Dallas, TX.  This position will begin as a short term assignment and will transition to long term. This individual will work collaboratively with a team of Engineers and Specialists across TC to further develop and package the Civil Fixed Facilities / Infrastructure scope. Specific duties include:

 

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates phases of engineering for the Civil Fixed Facilities / Infrastructure in close collaboration with DB Contractor(s), TC management and other key stakeholders.
  • Establish and develop engineering standards and criteria for the project.
  • Coordinates engineering efforts in various segments and scopes across the alignment
  • Serve as technical interface between TC, their Owners Engineer, various sub-consultants and DB Contractor(s)
  • Assumes a lead technical role over other engineers or project subgroups for completing specific tasks within the Civil Fixed Facilities / Infrastructure team.
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals that help TC archive target costs.
  • Oversees all Civil design and construction technical coordination and interface issues and participates in technical design reviews with the DB Contractor(s).

 

Basic Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or Minimum of 15 years’ experience working in the construction industry and/or large-scale infrastructure projects; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
  • PE license required with TX PE preferred or ability to obtain TX PE.
  • Candidate must have the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.

 

Additional Requirements:

 

  • Demonstrated technical writing, data management, verbal communication, presentation, and teaching skills.
  • A firm understanding of project construction procedures, principles and concepts;
