Project Overview:

The Project includes the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of 3 new bucket-wheel reclaimers including associated structural, mechanical, electrical and communications services.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will develop, administer and possess responsibility for project electrical installation and quality control program activities. You will perform inspections, monitor subcontractor activity, and administer training and surveillance. You will lead cross-functional activities to ensure that the electrical installation works follow contract, government standards, project specifications, and established quality control criteria.

FIFO Roster to China on a 12 & 2 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff within the area of responsibility.   
  • Role supports on mid-size projects  of medium to high complexity with multiple stakeholders’ involvement. 

Planning 

  • Monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements. 
  • Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.  
  • Coordinates the construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules. 

Safety / Quality 

  • Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements  
  • Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.  

Technical  

  • Supports Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents 
  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals. 
  • Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.   

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in supervision and inspection of electrical installation and assembly for the mining industry.
  • Experience working on international projects, with works completed to Australian standards.
  • Experience with the installation and factory testing of equipment for materials handling equipment, preferably with balanced machines (stacker\reclaimer) experience.
  • Onsite commissioning experience of materials handling equipment preferred.
  • Familiar with installation of electrical equipment for Western Australian Iron ore sites (Rio Tinto preferred).
  • Technical qualification in E&I installation, engineering or similar, Engineering Degree preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Industry, Australian and IEC Standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of AS3000 Electrical Installations (Wiring Rules), AS3007 Electrical Equipment in Mines and Quarries, AS2067 Substations and High Voltage Installations, AS3017 Verification Guidelines, WAER Western Australian Electrical Requirements, Western Australian Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations (part 5).
  • Familiar with AS1670 series Fire Detection, Warning Control and Intercom Systems, AS1680 series Workplace Lighting, AS2293 series Emergency Escape Lighting, AS61439 series Low Voltage Switchgear, AS61508 Functional Safety, AS3008.1.1 Selection of cables, AS60529 IP code, AS61386 series Conduit Systems, NEMA BI-50016 (formerly NEMA VE 2) Cable Tray Installation Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of quality control and inspection procedures related to the installation of E&I equipment.
  • Ability to interpret standards, codes, specifications, and read engineering & installation drawings, able to view and navigate 3D models.
  • Computer skills essential; Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and 3D viewer software with preference for Navisworks.
  • Chinese speaking mandatory. Able to read, write and speak English.
  • Good communication skills.
