Project Overview:

Bechtel is seeking to expand its decades long relationship with Reliance by providing Project Management Consultant (PMC) Services and Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Services for offsites and utilities (OSBL) for a multi-billion-dollar upgrade / expansion of existing petrochemical facilities in India. Reliance plans to augment its existing petrochemical facilities in Dahej, Gujarat, and Nagothane, Maharashtra, to expand its PVC capacity. The PMC Services will be led out of India with personnel deployed in Mumbai region, the project sites in India, as well as several key contractor locations across India. The EPCM Services for OSBL will be led out of Bechtel’s India offices.

The positions will be based out of Nagothane. 

 

Job Summary:

Responsible for overseeing the fabrication shop activities especially structural steel. Interprets design drawings and specifications. Provides technical direction to contractors and resolves technical issues. Coordinates with Supply chain functions and ensures materials are delivered on time for seamless fabrication operations. 

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing technical direction to assigned contractors for structural steel fabrication activities. 
  • Coordinates with engineering on design issues and ensures issues are resolved in a timely manner for seamless fabrication operations.  
  • Responsible for quantity take-off, control, reporting, forecasting, and resolving discrepancies if any. 
  • Ensures the implementation of quality control/safety plan(s) as required for fabrication shops. 
  • Coordinates with Supply chain function to ensure materials are delivered per project schedule. Resolves issues pertaining to materials and takes corrective actions. 
  • Develops construction procedures as applicable to fabrication shops. 
  • Reviews and provides input to project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule, and material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials. 
  • Implements controls over variables affecting job progress to ensure design engineering issues drawings/ documents for fabrication activities. 
  • Establishes a Design/Field Engineering (fabrication operations) working relationship and lines of communication with the Lead Discipline Field Engineer/Area Field Engineer including agreement on engineering deliverables and corresponding schedule. 
  • Plans and recommends procedures to be implemented by construction contractors to ensure construction operations are within requirements of engineering design and specifications. 
  • Maintenance of construction records for job history. Supervises the receiving, distribution and filing of plans and specifications. 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A recognized degree in Civil Engineering or scientific discipline. Actual work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the technical knowledge described above. Minimum experience required for this role is 20 years.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Technical knowledge of all phases of structural steel fabrication. 
  • Experience in checking, verifying and certifying structural steel fabrication activities. 
  • Experience in structural steel fabrication activities is a prerequisite for this role. 
  • Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration. 
  • Knowledge of Indian standards and specification and codes as applicable, including various safety procedures and practices associated with the construction activities. 
  • Familiar with Bechtel's Business Ethics handbook and policies. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility. 
  • Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements. 
  • Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program. 
  • Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents. 
  • Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.
