Project Overview:

Job Summary:

As a Senior Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation (CQV) Commissioning Manager, you will join a collaborative team delivering CQV services to clients who consistently manufacture GMP regulated products, in alignment with industry best practices. This is a client facing role with primary responsibility for ensuring CQV deliverables meet established schedule, cost, scope, quality, and safety objectives.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced CQV Commissioning Manager who thrives in a collaborative environment, consistently exceeds expectations, and challenges the status quo to drive continuous improvement.
In this role, you will be accountable for developing CQV planning and execution documents, leading teams in the generation and execution of CQV protocols in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDPs), and ensuring safe, effective startup of systems and equipment. You will lead the investigation and resolution of protocol deviations, exceptions, and discrepancies, as well as oversee the development of technical reports and CQV summary documentation.

You will also be responsible for performing risk assessments and impact assessments, establishing and implementing procedures for system handover from Construction to CQV, and subsequently from CQV to the Client. Additionally, you will define and track appropriate project performance metrics to ensure CQV deliverables satisfy overall project requirements.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-AA1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Overall accountability for company validation program including commissioning & qualification, computerized system validation, thermal validation, decontamination & sterilization validation, process validation, cleaning validation, transport qualification, aseptic process simulation, and validation maintenance activities.
  • Perform strategic planning and development of activities for company CQV function, including compliance, capacity, timelines, and directions. Collaborates closely with senior leadership team in meeting corporate and organizational goals through establishing and reporting of department or organizational metrics.
  • Perform and ensure validation of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) facilities through management of validation projects of various sizes while providing technical assistance. Acts as subject matter expert and resource to peers and colleagues.
  • Write, review, and approve associated commissioning, qualification, and validation protocols and reports including executed protocols. Ensures appropriate resolution of protocol exceptions.
  • Develop work plans, assign tasks, and lead team(s).
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop Validation Plans for validation projects and oversee contract staff, when necessary, through development of statement of work and vendor selection.
  • Establish, generate, and maintain CQV department procedures in compliance with company and industry standards.Own and maintain the validation program quality systems.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute commissioning (CQV) of mechanical systems.
  • Witness factory acceptance tests (FATs) and site acceptance tests (SATs) as required.
  • Ensure adherence to project safety requirements, safety protocols, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Develop and implement commissioning plans, test scripts, and acceptance criteria in alignment with project requirements.
  • Review and interpret drawings, P&ID diagrams, control schematics, and project specifications. 
  • Coordinate with Commissioning (CQV) Team, Design Engineers, Construction Teams, vendors, and owner representatives to resolve technical issues.
  • Scoping project drawings.
  • Complete the RASCI Matrix.
  • Support reviews of performance curves, metrics, trackers, and user feedback to show trends and use in improvements.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience or 19+ years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills for coordination with engineering, operations, and client teams.
  • Experience in Commissioning (CQV) or a technical consulting field such as facility design, engineering, construction management, or related area.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills with a focus on mentorship and accountability.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE Guidelines and Standards.
  • Identifies owner’s goals, needs, and expectations for building operation and function; identifies the Commissioning (CQV) responsibilities.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience, ideally leading a Construction Automation Team on a Bechtel jobsite.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical facility standards and critical power.
  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.
  • Understand and have knowledge of Clean Rooms.
