Project Overview:

Bechtel helps customers deliver projects of purpose that create a lasting positive legacy globally. These large, complex, and multi-disciplined projects create jobs, grow economies, and provide opportunities for local and regional communities. The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.

Job Summary:

The Piping Supervisor is responsible for supervising and directing piping installation operations within the pre-assembly yard for the construction team. Supervises all direct craft professionals, subordinate contractor services, and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction performance is following relevant safety standards, erection specifications and is delivered within required schedules and budgets. 

In this role, you will liaise between engineering and field operations and provide guidance on executing constructability plans. You will lead construction design decisions, interdisciplinary reviews, and project staffing. You will monitor construction performance and review deliverables. You will use your expertise to improve Bechtel’s existing methods by initiating project assessments and implementing improvements.  #LI-NP1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Implementing the project ES&H program and quality control program.
  • Supervises, coordinates and/or directs craft activities as assigned for the structural disciplines.
  • Coordinating craft safety training and always enforcing safe work practices in conjunction with the ES&H staff.
  • Planning the craft manpower and interfacing with Industrial Relations for craft recruitment, hiring, and skills training programs.
  • Oversight of the needs of the structural crews for craft personnel, subcontractor support, construction services, construction equipment, tools, and consumables as well as optimizing their utilization. 
  • Working closely with other lead discipline superintendents, supervisors and coordinating efforts and activities to meet the overall project requirements. 
  • Maintaining a high level of housekeeping throughout the work area. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 10 years of related large industrial or mining construction projects and piping installation and testing experience.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in piping roles with experience in managing the building processes final piping system acceptances. 
     

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have knowledge and understanding of construction operations at the jobsite
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the Bechtel Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Core Processes and Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” philosophy.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of Bechtel's Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs).
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects.
  • Must be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications in accordance with current BSAP standards.
  • Must be familiar with current industry quality standards and applicable code requirements.
