Project Overview:

The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.

 

Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.

Job Summary:

The Concrete and Batch Plant Supervisor is responsible for the direct hire scope of works in areas of the Eva Copper Process plant. The Supervisor is responsible for monitoring all appointed direct hire and Contractor’s job site activities and ensure that the construction operations and contractor’s performance follow project ES&H, quality, schedule requirements, whilst maintaining effective relationships when interfacing with stakeholders.

 

 

This role is offered on a FIFO basis to North Queensland, operating on a 2:1 roster

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate performance of the site Batch Plant contractors, project status, schedule, cost control, change management systems
  • Work with the Batch Plant contractor in planning and forecasting deliveries of materials to site and daily concrete production requirements to support the project schedules
  • Construction monitoring and compliance of direct hire and sub-contractors, ensuring works are carried out as per the specifications and standards, and ensures compliance to ES&H plans, quality standards and local/national regulatory safety codes
  • Coordinate performance of the installation contractors, project status, schedule, cost control, change management systems
  • Assist with execution other concrete construction work fronts through review of 3 week look ahead schedules, commodity charts, resource charts, engineering deliverables, material delivery schedules and any other service requirements including sub-contractor submittals
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving the sub-contractor's submittals, technical queries, Field change documents and other technical documents including Drawings and As-Builts
  • Maintains an effective relationship with other functional departments and coordinates all jobsite contractual activities
  • Coordinates and monitors interfaces with other work groups.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Preferably a recognized degree in an engineering discipline or minimum 10 years of experience in civil and concrete works on industrial plants.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in construction projects in a contractor or a PMC role.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience of large reinforced concrete construction pours
  • Thorough knowledge of standards, specification and codes as applicable, including various safety procedures and practices associated
  • Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the client, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
  • Self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment, with a passion to take ownership of projects and provide sound technical leadership to contractor’s staff and construction engineers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of complex formwork systems and installation processes on similar projects.
