Project Overview:
Bechtel helps customers deliver projects of purpose that create a lasting positive legacy globally. These large, complex, and multi-disciplined projects create jobs, grow economies, and provide opportunities for local and regional communities.
The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.
Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will provide non-routine cost engineering/planning and scheduling needs to projects. You will establish stakeholder relationships, conduct schedule analysis and integrate activities, identify restraints, quantify risks, monitor cost and performance, recommend alternatives, and deliver training sessions and workshops. Your activities will synthesize project components into seamless execution.
Major Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate’s scheduling and planning inputs from all functions to ensure a robust and achievable schedule is prepared.
- Co-ordinate the set-up of and maintenance thereafter of the specific quantity tracking metrics to ensure weekly quantities are meeting the project schedule requirements.
- Integrates interdisciplinary schedule requirements and constraints to establish logical work sequences for assigned disciplines or specialties.
- Establishes and implements methods for determining activity durations provided by contractors within assigned disciplines or specialties.
- Develops commodity release and installation curves as applicable.
- Review’s schedule data and identifies and acquires the information needed to complete work logics to interface across all aspects of the project.
- Determines activities and identifies overall critical path (primary and secondary) together with near term critical path items.
- Develops and monitors short term 3 Week Lookahead construction schedules; along with monthly and quarterly reporting in alignment with the project requirements.
- Monitors schedule deviation for all scopes of work, disciplines or specialties including subcontractor submittals, and recommends corrective action/workaround solutions for project considerations.
- Develops and writes the schedule commentary that appears in the monthly progress and similar reports.
- Coordinates and is Owner of identifying and reporting activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule and prepares and controls the Schedule Impact Report (as well as the CIAR - Critical Items Action Report).
- Conducts personnel performance reviews when delegated. Interviews candidates and makes recommendations for employment decisions.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience and demonstrated skill in completing and directing project planning / scheduling activities across a broad range of civil, SMP, E&I work tasks together with interfaces with approvals, operations & maintenance and owners team interfaces.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experienced in Level 1, Level 3 and Level 5 schedule development and integration.
- Proficiency in using Project Controls operating systems and multi discipline specific software applications (Primavera P6, Microsoft applications).
- Skilled in oral and written communication, with demonstrated ability to present Project Controls information to management/client.
- Demonstrated skill in identifying, analysing, and solving problems.
- Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes.
- Experienced in establishing and maintaining Earned Value Management Systems as they relate to progress and performance.
- Knowledge of current industry and technical developments.
