Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineering team is increasing capabilities to support projects in the various business units of Bechtel Global. Design / Selection / Engineering of Rotatory Equipment (Centrifugal Pumps/Rotary & Reciprocating Pumps/ Air and Gas Compressors/ Fire Water Pumps packages such as Nitrogen Generation packages, Chemical feed/injection packages, Emergency Disel Generator sets etc.). Candidate should have worked as Responsible Engineer with experience in execution of Basic/Conceptual Engineering, FEED, EPCM, EPC modes of execution for Indian and International projects. Candidate having design and detail engineering experience in EPC companies and has worked in Power, Energy, petrochemical projects are preferred. Person with experience/ knowledge in Semiconductor facility, Battery manufacturing and data centre will be added advantage.
Major Responsibilities:
- Perform within schedule and cost independent work with sound engineering practices and of desired quality
- Review of Process package for completeness of Process and Mechanical related data
- Participate in Review of PFDs, PIDs, MSDs, Process calculations and Data sheets for Pumps and Process Gas Compressors, Packages.
- Participates or assist in developing technical specifications for Equipment/Package.
- Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals
- Participating in IDC process. Interaction with Engineering disciplines, Clients / PMC, Bidders / Vendors
- Preparation of Mechanical Datasheets, MRQs, Review of Quotes, assessing deviations, raising of TQs, TBEs, MRPs
- Review of VPs
- Interact with Global offices, execute work on workshare mode
- Help project/proposal activities
- Participating in Value Engineering, design and cost optimization
- Coordinates work and collaborate with other engineering disciplines
- Develop standard documentation for use on projects
- Implement/Capture Lesson Learnt
- Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards Helping the project through construction and commissioning phases
- Travel to help activities at other engineering offices, supplier’s works, construction sites.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university and 10+ years of relevant work experience
- The Mechanical Engineer will work as part of Global Bechtel team and should have basic flair for working with personnel of different nationalities. Should have a good proficiency for spoken and written English language.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Proper selection of rotating equipment and auxiliaries as per the process conditions and specific project requirements
- Knowledge of different Process Licenser specific design requirements and construction features
- Knowledge of rotating equipment, packages with governing codes and standards like API,, ANSI, NFPA and, HI Standards etc.
- Prior experience in handling Pumps, and packages and exposure to Process Gas Compressors, Drive Turbine will be an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of Inspection requirements. Review of shop and site test procedures
- Basic understanding of various types of materials to be used for different services and review of vendor proposed materials
- Knowledge of other industry / regulatory codes and standards like ANSI, ISO, BS, BIS, IS, ASME, OISD, Licensor & Client specifications etc. will be an advantage
- Familiarity with model reviews and Hazop sessions and use of SPR is desirable
- Ability to coordinate work with other engineering disciplines and other stake holders
- Broad working knowledge of the principles and practices of executing large projects
