Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team and interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate the engineering technical aspects for large and complex projects. You will participate in project planning, proposal review, and will own the engineering elements of capital estimates. Your technical guidance and recommendations will ensure engineering aspects meet project requirements and remain within scope and budget. You will lead timely issuance of quality deliverables within schedule and budget. Your prior experience of handling data center projects will be essential.
Major Responsibilities:
- The role has overall responsibility for planning, organizing, executing, and coordinating engineering activities in alignment with project requirements, working closely with the Project Engineering Manager. The position owns and manages the engineering budget and is accountable for delivery within approved cost, schedule, and quality targets.
- The role leads and manages Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), and HVAC engineering designs in compliance with applicable local and international codes, standards, and guidelines. Responsibilities include oversight and review of engineering design and calculations for grading, roadways, drainage, water distribution systems, wastewater collection and treatment systems, electrical systems, power distribution and substations, pumping systems, and fire detection and suppression systems.
- Strong technical expertise is required in HVAC and mission‑critical systems, including chilled and condenser water systems, pump controls, glycol systems, air handling units (DX, split, RTU, CRAC/CRAH), raised floor environments, hot and cold aisle containment, and Building Management Systems. The role also reviews PUE calculations and implements technical solutions to improve energy efficiency and overall facility performance.
- The position works closely with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants, engineers, architects, planners, construction managers, and quantity surveyors, to ensure coordinated and constructible designs. Responsibilities include preparation and review of tender and construction drawings and associated engineering documentation.
- The role leads data center expansion and new build projects, often under tight timelines and with minimal oversight. It supports design coordination with construction teams, including implementation of Design for Safe Construction requirements, and participates in risk workshops to identify and escalate MEP and engineering‑related risks to the Project Director.
- Additional responsibilities include establishing and managing engineering scope, schedules, and resource plans; forecasting engineering resource requirements; coordinating statutory and company design reviews such as Model Reviews, HAZOP, and LOPA; ensuring compliance with QA procedures; supporting value engineering and TIC reduction initiatives; and participating in technical and commercial reviews of engineering outputs and contract documentation.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A recognized bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university with over 20 years of working experience.
- Certified Data Center Professional with experience of Handling various Tier III and Tier IV rated Data Center projects.
- Executed at least two projects in Project Engineering role in Data Center Projects.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- In depth knowledge of Data Center, M&E infrastructure design concepts, electrical/UPS topologies, cooling methodologies (central plant, room cooling, high density thermal strategies).
- Extensive knowledge of Civil and MEP engineering practices plans and technical specifications legislations, procedures and practices.
- Review one-line diagrams and cooling equations for new and existing data centers.
- Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues.
- Working knowledge of industry / regulatory standards and design criteria within the engineering disciplines.
- Ability to develop innovative ideas to reduce project total installed costs (TIC).
- Ability to present technical design issues to customers and suppliers and the ability to recommend solutions based on knowledge and experience.
- Proficient execution planning, resource allocation skills
