Project Overview:

Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence, rail and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Sydney where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel's capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future.

Job Summary:

The role will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of governance processes appropriate for an integrated project team structure, with a clear division of responsibility to support the collation of input from multiple parties and rapid decision making. Reporting outcomes across the project team will be a key aspect of this process.

The role will also be responsible for the development, coordination, and maintenance of dashboards, reporting procedures and other reporting tools at the project level across the Development phase.

The Governance and Reporting Lead will be a key member of the project team and will report to the PMO Director, who will provide technical guidance and operational supervision. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience and understanding of project management. He/she will have previous governance and reporting experience working on projects or in the Home Office.

The Governance and Reporting Lead will maintain relationships with project personnel, particularly with key project stakeholders such as client representatives, group leaders, subconsultants, and project advisors.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement governance processes with documented division of responsibility for project personnel.
  • Develop, maintain and update project report templates and project reporting procedures.
  • Establish, maintain and publish a project reporting calendar to standardize cut-off dates for submission of major contractual deliverables.
  • Defines project needs for progress and / or performance reporting in accordance with established Bechtel and client contractual requirements, objectives, and procedures. Develop innovative new techniques to meet specific needs, as required.
  • Performs critical reviews of progress reports submitted by other project advisors, vendors, and subcontractors and prepares detailed commentary for management and client reviews.
  • Interfaces with Project management, client and subcontractor counterparts for required project presentations.
  • Coordinates the development and maintenance of dashboards and other reporting tools, as well as the upward reporting of information, dashboards, and reports with the client’s central reporting team.
  • Coordinate effectively with Client and stakeholders to solve complex business-related issues. Communicate effectively verbally and/or in writing regarding all commercial matters, including preparation of key materials - drafting of correspondence, memos, guidance notes, chronologies, narratives, and position papers related to project commercial matters and issues.
  • Assist with development and capture of contemporaneous records and production of information necessary to substantiate project commercial matters.
  • Contribute to the development/maintenance of tools and processes to support contractual project framework compliance, sound administration and reporting.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstratable experience of managing customer and various project stakeholders to drive required project outcomes including completion of deliverables.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Proficiency with multiple discipline specific software applications currently used in Bechtel (Power BI, Microsoft Office Applications, etc.).
  • Knowledge of commercial/business management functions is preferable.
  • Understanding of project controls (cost, schedule, risk, change management and progress reporting).
  • Knowledge of project lifecycle and performance reporting frameworks.
  • Ability to convert data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Continuous improvement and innovation focus.
