Project Overview:
Bechtel, a global leader in project management, engineering, procurement and construction, has been selected by Western Sydney Airport Co as its Delivery Partner for the Western Sydney Airport, a $5.3 billion greenfield facility in Badgerys Creek, New South Wales. This will be a landmark project for both New South Wales and Australia. Western Sydney Airport will provide much-needed additional aviation capacity to meet growing demand in the Sydney basin and improve access to flights for people in Western Sydney. One of Australia's most significant infrastructure projects in decades, the international and domestic airport will open in 2026, bringing social and economic prosperity to the Western Sydney region. Job Summary:
In this role, you will supervise the delivery of the project to ensure the project is delivered to scope, quality, time and budget within the Business’ objectives for Safety, Security and Environmental standards. Reporting to the package manager, you will monitor that the contractor is compliant with project specifications and requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
- Actively ensure contractors are complying with safety requirements and encourage contractors to perform their work in a safe manner.
- Actively interface with the assigned area's Engineering, Construction Interface, Health and Safety, Environment and Sustainability, Community, Workplace Relations, Contract Management and other relevant teams to ensure package/project delivery priorities are maintained.
- Coordinate activities with other disciplines or areas and technical representatives, as instructed by construction management to ensure program delivery priorities are maintained.
- Review all contractor submittals including construction schedules, costs, reports, changes and trends as required, monitors field activities and coordinates technical oversight.
- Review design documents, change orders, material requisitions, requests for information and specifications for construction associated with the contractor’s scope of works.
- Review the flow of information required from third party companies or contractors to facilitate the timely progress of the engineering work.
- Review field engineering progress, quality records and quantity verification against approved schedules, evaluate changes and advise corrective action when required.
- Communicate technical issues and recommend solutions as required.
- Monitor work activities and the quality of work performed by the contractor.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 12-15 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in the successful management of major projects in the building industry.
- Experience in the installation, testing and commissioning of electrical and fire-life safety systems.
- Experience on prior Airport projecst is an advantage but not essential.
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved and current knowledge of new methods of design and construction.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrable delivery of leadership and behavioural change within a large organisation and with outside organizations.
- Ability to influence and engage in a collaborative working environment with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining necessary levels of commercial awareness.
- Prior delivery partner or client-side project management experience is preferred but not essential.
- Working knowledge of Australian Standards, specifications and codes.
