Job Summary:
The Communications, Marketing, and Public Affairs Manager will spearhead high-impact engagements focused on Bechtel’s Australian infrastructure market, which covers transport, energy and defence sectors. A key part of this role will involve showcasing our projects and people through local partnerships, conferences, media engagements, while also advancing the organisation’s public affairs agenda. The role will report to Infrastructure’s global head of communications and work in close collaboration with our regional Public Infrastructure and Renewables & Clean Power general managers. It will involve regular engagement with our regionally deployed business development teams, as well as media professionals, public stakeholders and policy influencers
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement integrated communications, marketing, and public affairs strategies aligned with Bechtel’s Australian infrastructure business objectives.
- Create and promote narratives, case studies, and materials that showcase Bechtel’s projects, innovations, and workforce achievements.
- Build and maintain partnerships with local organisations, industry bodies, and community groups to support business goals.
- Manage proactive stakeholder engagement and media relations to enhance Bechtel’s reputation and secure positive coverage.
- Lead Bechtel’s participation in industry conferences and events, coordinating representation, messaging, and sponsorships.
- Monitor policy developments, provide insights to leadership, and develop advocacy campaigns to influence public policy and regulatory outcomes.
- Safeguard and enhance the Bechtel brand in Australia by overseeing marketing collateral, digital content, and ensuring alignment with corporate standards.
- Establish and report on metrics and KPIs for communications and marketing initiatives, and support crisis communications preparedness and response.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Marketing, Communications, Public Affairs, Business, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications are an asset.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a communications, marketing, or public affairs management role, ideally within infrastructure, energy, or government relations.
- Experience managing campaigns targeting the Australian market and engaging with policy stakeholders is highly desirable.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Sector and Public Affairs Expertise: Demonstrated experience and understanding of Public Infrastructure, Renewables & Clean Power, and public affairs in the Australian context.
- Strategic Campaign Management: Proven ability to design and deliver integrated communications, marketing, and public affairs campaigns tailored to specific regional markets.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent interpersonal and advocacy skills, with a track record of building productive relationships with internal teams, external partners, senior stakeholders, and public officials.
- Data-Driven Approach: Advanced skills in setting KPIs, analysing campaign and advocacy performance, and applying data insights to drive results.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex ideas persuasively to both commercial and public audiences.
