Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a high-performance team to develop and manage complex Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) project programs. You will assist functional leads to ensure requirements are properly integrated and be responsible for overall project ES&H execution. Your leadership will help achieve ES&H performance expectations, compliance, and continuous improvement.  

 "This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”. #LI-AM3

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assure that ESH requirements are properly interpreted and integrated in planning documents, design criteria, construction and operational plans, schedules, training programs, and subcontract documents.  
  • Apply Bechtel's ESH Management System and standards (core processes) to achieve, maintain, and continually improve program execution and compliance with ESH requirements.  
  • Provide support within ESH teams and to other project groups, so that ESH requirements are integrated within project planning, design, construction planning, procurement, subcontracts, commissioning, and other project functions. 
  • Work with other functional leads (e.g., engineering, construction, subcontracts, procurement, project controls, document controls) to assist them with ESH requirements to assist them in addressing ESH requirements in their work products and activities. 
  • Prepare technical and regulatory reports and notifications in conformance with contract, regulatory, and Bechtel requirements.  
  • Assure that permit applications, studies, reports, and assessments are completed as required.  
  • Prepare the project Safety and Health Management Plan, safety and health specific plans, project-specific control plans, and safety and health awareness and training programs in compliance with Bechtel standards, ESH Management System, and contract and regulatory requirements 
  • Emphasize and use risk assessment and Bechtel's ESH Management System to help achieve continual improvement.  

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A Master of Science degree (or equivalent) in environmental, occupational safety, health, or a science-related discipline from an accredited university or college and 12 or more years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in environmental, occupational safety, health, or science-related discipline from an accredited university or college and 14 or more years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree (or equivalent) in environmental, occupational safety, health, or a science-related field and 16 or more years of relevant experience.  
     

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong organizational, supervisory, and leadership skills. 
  • Ability to research and comprehend regulatory requirements. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Computer and analytical skills for presentations, data management, recordkeeping, and report preparation. 
  • Adaptable and able to work outdoors in a field environment under various weather conditions. 
  • Expertise in incident investigation, procedure development, and experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar frameworks. 
  • Ability to support multiple work shifts, as needed, and a wide range of tasks. 
  • Valid driver’s license. 
  • Demonstrated interest, training, and experience in applied sciences. 
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management System standards and certified as an ISO 45001 internal auditor. 
  • Professional certification (e.g., ASP, OHST, CSP, CIH) or progress toward certification is highly desirable. 
  • Broad technical knowledge, science skills, and technical writing abilities.
