Position Summary:

Bechtel is seeking a Electrical Engineer Supervisor/Lead to join the Electrical department within the Manufacturing and Technology Business Unit (M&T). Essential job responsibilities include:

  • Serves as supervisor or area lead on assigned project to develop an area from conceptual phase to EPC phase.
  • Applies broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering specifically in Electrical Engineering.
  • Makes decisions independently concerning problems on the project.
  • Maintains contact with client representatives as directed, with suppliers, appropriate field personnel, Project Engineers, and Engineering disciplines to ensure the coordination of the design within the project or assignment and compliance with Bechtel/client requirements.
  • Attends client meetings as the Lead Electrical Engineer and presents project electrical design, status, and schedule.
  • Accountable for coordination of engineering activities, in accordance with the established technical quality standards, cost, and schedule.
  • Coordinates clear scope definition with the client and home office engineering teams ensuring design documents reflect project scope definition.
  • Manages scope change and coordination of changes with client and home office engineering teams.
  • Ensures design deliverables are in accordance with applicable industry standards and codes, accepted design practices, project specifications, and quality standards for a global business unit.
  • Supervises a team of engineers and designers on a medium to large sized project.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering and 9 years related experience.
  • Must have the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and materials, applications of computer software to engineering problems to ensure the design is cost effective, in accordance with applicable safety, health, environmental regulations, customer requirements and engineering codes and standards.
  • Must have working knowledge of engineering standards and procedures, covering discipline deliverables, production and control, as well as organization and responsibilities for the Engineering Department.
  • Thorough knowledge of business practices, project forecasting required.
  • Experience in resolving complex technical problems and the ability to articulate explanations to a team of engineers and designers are essential.
  • Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning and organizational skills are essential.
  • Knowledge & application of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE Standards.
  • Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines. Ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
  • Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings for electrical systems and equipment on manufacturing or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building electrical systems.
  • Ability to resolve design/installation issues working with appropriate stakeholders with proper configuration management onsite.
  • Knowledge of medium voltage systems (34.5kV / 13.8kV), low voltage systems (480 and 208/120V) which includes but not limited to; Switchgear, MCCs, Switchboard/Distribution Board, Lighting Panel Design.
  • Knowledge of Single Line Development, Control Schematics, Equipment Specification Development.
  • Knowledge of Power System Studies and modeling software such as ETAP, EasyPower or other to develop Load Flow, Short Circuit, Coordination, Arc Flash, etc.
  • Knowledge of electrical raceway design and layout that includes but not limited to; lighting, communications, grounding layout, grounding designs/calculations, and lightning protection systems.
  • Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) industry (for example: power, oil and gas, LNG, petrochemical, etc.)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Revit MEP or SPR or other 3D Software.
  • Previous experience working in Semiconductor, Electric Vehicle, Battery, or Data Center manufacturing facilities (not an absolute requirement).
  • Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.
  • Professional Registration License (P.E) in Electrical Engineering discipline (Power).
  • Prior experience as Lead Electrical Engineer on a medium to large sized Industrial Project.
