Project Overview:
NASA has selected Bechtel National, Inc., of Reston, Virginia, to design and build a second mobile launcher, known as Mobile Launcher 2 or ML2, for Exploration Ground Systems at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Job Summary:
This position is in Cape Canaveral, Florida and it supports data integration efforts which not only support existing Project Controls Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), but also develops new applications and utilities to support strategic management initiatives and automate Project Controls processes. #LI-AM3
Major Responsibilities:
- Working hands-on in Project Controls databases (Oracle/SQL/Access/P6/EcoSys) that include Data Model Design, Database Backup/Recovery, and Queries, Indexes, Procedures, Views, etc.
- Working hands-on with Project Controls related software development efforts that include most or all of the following: C#.NET, Entity Framework, HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, and Web Services
- Working hands-on in web server administration using Apache and/or Internet Information Services (IIS)
- Applying the following methodologies and principles both in own work and in leading the work of others in the team:
- Agile Software Development Methodology
- Application Configuration Management
- Application Security Controls
- Change Control
- Requirements Gathering
- Software Deployment and Maintenance
- Software Development Life Cycle Principles
- Software Quality Assurance and Quality Control
- Software Test Plans and Testing (Integration, Load, Performance, Stress, Unit)
- Troubleshooting and Debugging Applications
- Applying relevant experience with data analysis techniques to own work and in leading the work of others in the team
- Standard and custom report development (Access, SSRS, HTML5) to support Project Controls needs.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
- Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident of the US.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check including verification of employment, education and travel.
- Must be able to obtain site security badge for access to work site.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge and experience with automation and integration efforts that support the objectives of a project delivery-oriented organization.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present products independently with minimal supervision using a high level of professional judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to present information to management/client.
- Ability to work independently and as part of team to meet project requirements.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.
- Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX)
- Model-View-Controller (MVC)
- SignalR
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience in Web Server Administration that includes:
- Internet Information Services (IIS)
- Tomcat
- WebLogic
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of Project Controls general technical skills.
- Knowledge of supervision, personnel administration, and training of technical and nontechnical personnel generally gained through experience in leadership roles.
- Familiarity with project management practices used in the major construction industry.
- Familiarity with the project execution principles involved in engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as typically performed on major construction projects.
- Experience with Earned Value Management Systems compliant to ANSI 748.
- Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and objectives.
