Project Overview:

Bechtel currently manages the Mobile Launcher 2 project at Kennedy Space Center, FL. This project is the design and construction of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Mobile Launcher 2 (ML2) for the Space Launch System (SLS).

 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will provide project field engineering support with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover. Your work will contribute to ensuring field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-CL1

 

Major Responsibilities:

Work Planning & Packaging 

  • Coordinates the preparation of construction drawings, sketches, projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements. 
  • Contributes in planning construction methods and procedures. 

Material Management 

  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases. 
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment. 

Quantities 

  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required. 

Safety / Quality Control 

  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely. 

Technical 

  • Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities. 
  • Supports construction Engineers, Discipline Superintendents, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents. 

System Turnover Coordinator 

For Direct Hire

  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development. 
  • Builds system and area turnover packages both digitally and physically for turnover to startup and client. 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Required a University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident of the U.S.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of construction activities relating to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.
  • Working knowledge of basic engineering principles in the design and installation of structures, systems, and components.
  • Ability to provide clear and precise verbal and written communications with design engineers in order to support IWP preparation.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret construction drawings.
  • Understanding of change management and configuration control processes.
  • Work experience leading to an advanced understanding of the technical knowledge described above.
  • Ability to interface with diverse construction disciplines as well as all levels of management.
  • Candidates must be physically fit and able to work at an active construction site.
